Also, why bother singling out Japan and saying that the 360 is more successful in the rest of the world? Because it supports your argument, that's why.

One could just as easily single out the US. If it weren't for the US, PS3 would already have higher sales. In the entire world except the US, the PS3 is selling more. It's selling more in Japan, and in Europe, which is "neutral territory". Actually, singling out the US is more reasonable than singling out Japan because it actually is the one market that is going against the tide.

So yeah, if 360 wants to claim credit by beating PS3 in one market that has no competition, great.

Go look at PS2 market share last gen and tell me if you think the PS3 is a success at second place. It isn't.

MS was successful in the US, and despite the recent PS3 price cut they are only losing by about 4-10k a week, which means the PS3 will most likely never surpass the 360 in the US.

As others stated, the 360 is a Western based console, and thats where they get most of their AAA exclusives. As long as they have second place or better in the US they are in good shape.

Does that mean MS should give up Japan completely? No, because the few niche Japanese games they have allows them to expand their audience to Japan and get the few people in the US that appreciate Japanese games (Wheres your Raiden and Death Smiles on the PS3? And we still got Lost Odyssey which was Final Fantasy to me.)

360 fans should be happy with the results that the 360 produced - outside of It's crappy hardware the 360 offers pretty much anything a gamer could want. Live will most likely never be free and being able to play Blu-Ray is still a movie experience. BTW, I downloaded a movie off of the Zune market place and I've watched Blu-Ray movies and had trouble telling the differences in quality. But I'm not a tech geek so that's just me.

Yes, unless 360 manages to do something drastic with the price....If 360 has another price drop this spring, PS3 will have to drop the price by Christmas 10' to have a chance to catch it by 2011 imo.  I don't think Natal will do anything for the 360.

No competition in that market you mean Japan ? The Ps3 was released after 360 in japan and the first years the xbox had the better library for japanese people. 

Beating the 360 in one market ? It is beating the 360 in the majority of markets. Japan obviously and every European country except Uk. So you wanted to say:

"if Ps3 wants to claim credit by beating 360 in most of the markets..."

Uk is still 360 Land but this can change, its not too far ahead and I am confident that in almost every market the PS3 will beat 360 except USA. 

After all is said and done the PS3 will be the console with signifcantly more hardware sold then X360.

And if next gen starts everything can go again in favor of Sony. Nintendo also had to learn after they won 2 gens and now they are back stronger then ever before. If Sony is smart and they are it could happen again. The Xbox highest place was second place by a low margin and ithis gen it will be even the third place. Nintendo came and ruled the market. Sony came and ruled the market. MS came and they failed first time and then they came back and improved a lot of things. But still wont achieve to beat one of the other companys.

And if Sony wont show any weakness right from the start MS will be in deep trouble. They grew so big because Sony screwed up.

What would have happend if they would have relased at 399 ? The people were mad at Sony because Ps3 was so expensive and they couldnt afford it now PS3 is not expensive and people come back. 

The problem is that MS has now a bad reputation because of the RROD. If Sony and MS release consoles at the same time for the same price people will take PS definetly. If there would be a 20gb PS3 for 199 it would be bought like sliced bread.

But enough with hypothetical talk. Its is like it is the outcome is unsure things look better for Sony at the moment which can change obviously but with a 50 Dollar Pricecut nothing will happen the cheapest Xbox was 179 in Europe the price increased again bu still PS3 outsold it. Thats not enough better SW and natal beeing a success would be enough but definetly not a 50 Dollar pricecut.

price is not the problem with the 360 its unreliability, price for Online gaming (even if not high the facat that there is something like it and WII and PS3 dont have it is enough) High prices for HD and other stuff. Plus some disadvantages like no Bluray. are the real reasons. aThe 360 has just not the same image the PS3 has. And another pricecut wont help to sell more then PS3. Atleast here. There is just Games that matter nothing else.

PS3 is here seen as the better product. With the higher quality. And the decision to go with Bluray tunrs out to be a huge advantage. Say wath you want but the more the people buy HDTVs and the more they release how good Bluray is the higger is the attractivity of the PS3.

You shouldnt worry too much even if PS3 outsells 360 by a couple of Millions. What would that change for you ?

I am looking forward for this year to see what is going to change. It will be the best year this gen because of the high number of exclusives and because we will see the epic war over the marketshare and the beginnig of 3d on Consoles.
