Relax... Any console jumping 400% in a week is big news. I thouoght the fact that it was in what seemed like a weak game release week, but I guess the Japanese like flyers?

So to summarize...

The Japanese hate first person shooters, but they love Pokemon and Flyers. I'm glad I'm not a japanese sales analyst.

I think it was all due in part to a pricecut, the elite, and ace combat 6. And it only outsold the ps3 by like 200 something units. Ill be honest though, i think it is a sign that the ps3 up to this point in japan really is not living up to expectations. Do i think the japanese will flat out give up on it and go the 360? Mmm i highly doubt it. The 360 has some serious exclusives that if they were on the ps3 would light sales up sure enough as im sitting here. Im talking about blue dragon, eternal sonata (which is coming to ps3), lost odyssey and im sure theres more. All in all its just a blip in sales but if i was an SCE employee id be wee bit worried.

It is not that big of a deal, it is one week only thing and it was because of Ace Combat 6. In my shop in Tokyo the Xbox 360 sales started to drop. We have 360's that been there for over 3 days minimum. It wore off in Japan.

 More xenophobic than racist, but for all intents aand purposes... yes.  Japanese culture (especially in business) is extremely internal.  The only real exception is that for whatever reason they love to borrow random pop culture from us (and we from them -- we have an unusual relationship)
