Oh, I know. I'm just saying that I've learned rather quickly that trying to defend a game, especially one of this caliber, only leads to a never ending battle of rhetoric. Therefore, it's useless to fight with. I personally think some people think this game is going to be one way, and then find out it's another. Cage has said from the beginning: 'HEAVY RAIN is a very different kind of game. It's not about shooting/driving/solving puzzles but exploration/decision making/story telling'. With this in mind, I know I'm going to love it. This generation's best games, IMO, are the ones that stand out from the crowd. A breath of fresh air if you will. |
Not sure if people will agree with me, but this game reminds me of the original Clock Tower game from waaaay back, HR come off like a HD/evolution of that game.
It reminds me a bit of Broken Sword. I think it's a bit unfair to judge a game from the first 9 minutes.

It's a tutorial, dude. |
So? it was a very boring tutorial.
Also was it really just a tutorial, I mean was it teaching you "how to brush" & so on, will I need to remember those direction buttons to interact with the world from now on? I don't think so. I don't think that was a tutorial BTW.
The video in the OP is for the first 9 minutes & the first 9 minutes seemed slightly disappointing, I never stated the whole game would be disappointing because of it.

Depends on how you look at it. In your case, totally boring. However, I can see how something like that (and all required tutorials) would be boring after your first time through them. This game probably suffers a little more from continued replays because it's so story driven. That doesn't mean I'm going to despise it on my first playthrough.
I'm thinking of a quote and I hope I remembered it correctly,
"In a foreign film you could open with a shot of clouds, cut to another shot of clouds, and cut to yet another shot of clouds and still hold your audience. In an American film, if you open with a shot of clouds and your next shot isn't a plane blowing up, you've lost your audience."
LOL I imagine if reviews comes in and give this a 5 or 6/10 and their Cons list are "no shooting" "no guns" "no explosion!!" ROFL!!!!

You know.....I actually agree with you
1. This is a tutorial.
2. Definitely not less exciting than the sort of things you would do in The Sims.
3. I'm expecting alterations between fast-paced and slow-paced action throughout the game. Just like in movies. This is a slow-paced part.
Overall - looking forward to the demo and release!

It is. Cage said the game wouldn't just throw you in just off the bat. The beginning was meant as a tutorial. Regardless, I agree that this isn't exciting, although that's subjective in what is 'exciting or not'. But since it's the first 9 minutes of a game with 20 endings and a 12-hour play time, I think this isn't really indicative of the full experience. Besides, this game isn't trying to do what others have already done. It's supposed to be fresh/new/innovative and it doesn't seem, even during those first few minutes, to lack in any of those areas. A game not for everyone but certainly a game for me. |
So as tutorials teach me how to play the game will I have to remember how to brush my teeth, open the fridge, shake the orange juice, pick up a photo frame & so on or will those icons indicating what button I need to press to interact with the environment always be there? Because I dunno how easy it will be to remember specific button movements.
It subjective whats exciting & what isn't yes, that doesn't mean people who thought this was boring should suddenly be called FPS nerds & people who can't like a game without explosions, thats a bit silly (you didn't say this but others did).

I heard the first 8 hours of FXIII is quite lack luster aswell.
