Forums - Gaming - Killzone 3 vs Halo Reach

Justl ike how you guys laughed at ppl who said Uncharted 2 will sell 2m by end of 2009 ey? now that I think of it you guys just disappeared after that....ROFL!!!

KZ3 will be remembered by many for its now predicted amazing graphics.

Halo Reach will beat it sales-wise.

But both will have great gameplay, so both games are great.

My opinion:
Killzone 2- Graphics
Halo 3- Gameplay, Multiplayer, Campaign, Vehicles and Sales

This is probably what will happen with Halo: Reach x Killzone 3

we already went over this

killzone has a better multiplayer.

It doesn't matter who went over what, the point is that there are FAR MORE people out there that prefer Halo's mulitplayer to KZ2's. Any time you say something like this you have to understand that it's your opinion, and no matter what points you bring up the fact remains that Halo has more Hardcore, Mainstream and Casual gamers than KZ will ever have.

Personally I prefer Gears over any of these games, but I know it sure as hell isn't for everyone.

uncharted 2 FTW!!!

What U2 has to do with his statement?

About as much as Gears of War had to do with the topic. :)

If he was acting like a fanboy he wouldn't mention that he prefer Gears over Halo, don't you think? He was just using Gears as a example, he was saying that even his favorite game isn't for everyone just like Halo and Killzone 2. Sometimes your blinded eyes will see flamewar where it doesn't exist.

@gaming_addict24

There is the good fanboy (who prefers a company or games from a certain company and can coexist with different opinion) and there is the bad fanboy (who see flamewar where it doesn't exist and simply can't coexist with different opinions). I think you should try to become a good fanboy.

What are you on about?  Where did I call him a fanboy?  Who/what are you even talking about?   Or did you quote me by accident?

It doesn't matter, all you need to understand is the bolded line. He was just using gears as an example and not making off topic.

Killzone 2 was released during a slow part of the year...
I hope Sony releases KZ3 in during the holidays.
It could potentially sell like gears of war numbers.

The problem is everybody is afraid to release a shooter in November now.  They think they'll get crowded out by the annual Call of Duty hysteria.

Huh? Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead 1/2 released against Call of Duty and still sold well. Left 4 Dead 2 is even selling better than the first did against an even bigger Call of Duty.

Can't be bothered to get into an argument about this.. whatever.

So why did you bring it up?

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?

Seriously.  Go away.

You. First.

See that is my thing...people get caught up in numbers...that's good and all..but I have always been about quality...sells don't mean jack...Thats why we have catorgoires such as great games that never got played...

Some people on this site are so annoying.  Why would you pick something so stupid to argue about?  Here you go...

1) "Games Afraid to compete with the Modern Warfare Release"

http://www.ranker.com/list/games-afraid-to-compete-with-the-modern-warfare-release/pt_tesla

2) "Capcom Moves Key Releases out of Early 2010"

http://gamerblips.dailyradar.com/story/capcom-moves-key-releases-out-of-early-2010/

"It's a chain reaction, basically: After a number of publishers delayed their games to early 2010 to avoid the behemoth that was Modern Warfare 2 , it made early 2010 suddenly look like a behemoth itself -- and at least one developer is already getting out of the way of that freight train, too."

3) Here's another one...

http://topnews.us/content/29179-capcom-postpones-launch-titles-avoid-competition-modern-warfare-2

"Many other video-game makers have now taken the same step. Releases of much awaited games like Bioshock 2 from Take-Two Interactive and Splinter Cell: Conviction from Ubisoft have also been pushed back until after Christmas, and into the coming year, to avoid competition with Activision's title."

It's a fact.  A significant number of games have had their release dates moved to avoid Call of Duty and other big releases in the fall... and that's only going to continue.

A more reasonable explanation?

How about this: Bioshock 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction were delayed again so perhaps they weren't ready enough? The fact that something is cited for a delay doesn't always indicate its the whole story. I would suggest that the true reason for the delay was that they didn't want to pick up the end of the recession with game sales down overall and many of these games could have used some extra time in the oven. I doubt that if the recession never happened that many of these games would have been delayed.

You don't clear out games just because of a single heavy seller en masse as the sole reason. The flight of some ought to have been enough incentive for the rest to stay. There were 90M PS360 titles sold in the 2 months prior to christmas which was down a fairly reasonable margin on the year before. I would suggest that its not just that Call of Duty 6 released, it was that they couldn't expect to sell a reasonable number of units between them. Call of Duty 6 is just an easy to cite reason to give to the press / stockholers.

Well which game will be better is an opinion, but most of us seem to agree Reach will sell a lot more.

KillZone 2 had fairly good sales but I seriously doubt Sony made any money off of it after development and massive promotional costs... Even with all that, it sold less than half of Halo 3. There is no comparison.

KZ3 wont touch Halo:reach sales. However, it'll be the better game IMO judging by their previous iterations
