Forums - Nintendo Discussion - When are we going to see Nintendo Amusement Park like Walt Disney world?

I've always thought this would be an excellent idea... Wonder how they would do a Mario Kart ride that would actually be safe?

For some reason I am thinking of bumber car races.  Maybe they can give you green water balloons that stop another car when the car gets wet?

There was a reader letter about this in Nintendo Power.

It would certainly be interesting especially if it was opened in the US. Nintendo would never do it on their own though. WAY to much risk for them.

Just a "video game" theme park would be cool though. Sounds like a good business proposition.

I think just an all around Video game theme park would be cool. Like a Nintendo section a sony section a microsoft section.. and like each developer has their own rides and stuff... I have a Drawing of it somewhares... its big.(I drew out a theme park liek this.)

Brawl Code- 3179-6370-3098 Name:Richi

Mk Code-3480-4494-2675 Name:Richi

Mario kart racing tracks.
Star Fox virtual flight simulators.
Kirby's "Warp Star" roller coaster.
Donkey Kong's "Barrel Blast" roller coaster.
Pit's "Wings of Icarus" (sort of like that Dragon's Wing ride at Six Flags).
Captain Falcon's "Big Blue" roller coaster.
Ganondorf's "Death Mountain" pendulum swing ride.
And let's not forget the MASSIVE ARCADE they could have!

This is just the obvious stuff. The possibilities are endless, really. And I haven't even mentioned Pokemon yet.

Check out my band, (the) Fracture Suit!!

Have you been enslaved?

Didn't sega have one in the 90's? I heard it was closed down due to the operation costs.

It is really not a profitable business i think, Sega lost money on it when they were in their prime.

Edit:off topic: is there an IRC channel for vgchartz??

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

The Nintendo themepark already exists. It exists anywhere a little boy is playing Pokemon. It exists wherever a family gathers to play Wii Sports. It exists whenever a child does the Mario dance.

But since my imagination ain't so good, somebody need to build that shit for real!

Disney already was diversified when they made the first park.

Although I swear I read about plans to make a Pokemon them park. But a full Nintendo theme park would be cool.

Nintendo indeed opened a Pokemon themed park in Japan.  As well as a chain of Pokemon themed 'centers', one which is in New York.

As for a Nintendo themed park, it could probably work, but only to a point.  Would you really enjoy a park with water themed 'Pipe' rides, Mario 'kart' rides and Pikmin '3D' experiences like Disney?  In the end, you'd go there once, say 'that was neat' and never go there again realizing the games themseles are 100x better than the amusement park.  That's part of Disneys problem currently.  They're losing business to things such as Video Games.  Where some people use to spend repeat weekends or even entire weeks going to Disney World, now they will only go for a day or even skip going because they'd rather play games at home.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I'm going to disney at January 2011. It's one of my dreams, for people in us going to disney should be something pretty easy, but for BR it's just shitty expensive! Sure i prefer to travel to disney than staying at home!
