Forums - Nintendo Discussion - RE: Zelda Rumor - Firmware Update????

Hi all, I'm a long time fan of this site and first time poster

Just wanted to comment on a specific rumor about the the New Zelda game.

Commandment 7 from: http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=98692

7) At now is the only game that uses 100% of Wii hardware, at the same time the current power of Wii is not enough to achieve that result

Just wondering if this is true, could Nintendo be holding something back from us, possibly a new firmware update that would unleash more power from the Wii's hardware to make the new Zelda an exceptional game (even more so), since the 'current power is not enough to achieve that'.

Also, would that block homebrew and backup launchers, making it that the only way to play the new Zelda would be to update the firmware and buying a legitimate copy so it doesn't end up on a most pirated games 2010 chart

Well doesn't nvidia releases updates that allows there graphics cards to perform better. It might be possible but highly unlikely.

what makes no sense, my interpretation of the rumor or the rumor itself?

I'm a SpazioGames user and I can specify more that comment...
In the last weeks we asked the editor (who works for NoE) about that statement and he excluded an add-on (like N64DD) or an HD expansion...he also excluded a new console.

But he specified that the Wii has some possibilities who can be unlocked by an update.

You can trust him, but he's not working on the Zelda project so his informations are not always updated...now he's in Japan for a Nintendo meeting, maybe after his return we'll know more :) (but he can't reveal details, just "ideas" like those which he has just said).

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

so it could be possible and might make sense!

Why would Nintendo be holding back the power of the Wii?

maybe an update for the graphics chip, maybe they developed a special update to allow for 100% hardware usage, or maybe they have been saving it for Zelda (just a shot in the dark) :)

We're not speaking of "power" (hardware) but of things the Wii can do...for example they can add a channel for chatting through Wii Speak (this is not useful for Zelda, just an example of what he wanted to mean...).

Can be anything: a channel, a different internet system...not an hardware power-up.

He said Super Mario Galaxy used 65% the power of the Wii, and Monster Hunter 3 the 78%...I think he intended to be that Zelda Wii was the game which will use the Wii the most, but there'll be something unlocked with the disk or by a firmware update that now you can't do.
