Thats not the way divisions are handled nowadays what happens in one division doesnt necessarily affect the others, even more when is a another company that has no relation with SCE.

except NJ5 is anything but a troll. He is one of the few financially minded people on the website who has been posting financial results for years. I'm sorry if you are hurt because Sony is losing money, but that is no reason to accuse him of being a troll. Next time try phoning Sony and tell them to stop losing money, as they are trolling the forums.

Anyways, let's please get this thread back on topic. I came in here to read about Sony Ericsson, not about how people are upset that this is in Sony rather than off topic. If you are truely upset about threads being in the wrong forum, bring it up with Naz or create your own thread about the topic and maybe we'll have a major shift in philosophy. Until then, this thread remains, and this thread is fine. Please discuss the topic at hand, else I will consider it off topic.

It never stops to amaze me how many people, for example, stick PS3 under their avatars yet constantly attacks sony, PS3 hardware, PS3 games, Blu-ray....anything sony or PS3 related.

Why the hell don't they sell the console if they hate everything about it so much?

Simple, most don't own a PS3. It is deliberate to hide what they really are. Look out for such posters, I can guess at quite a few.

Once again this goes for the other two consoles.

I know NJ5 is not pro sony but in his defence he is no where near as bad as other anti-whatever-console posters.

That's why I take this thread as "not meaning any harm" on his part, but I can't read his mind.

I like how you are you are stealth trolling there,  Sony Ericsson has no bearing on Sony itself its a spin off between two companies who has its own board and own sets of financial results.  Its a cell phone company, instaed of lopping it in the Sony discussion, why dont you as a mod create a separate section for cell phones so a post like this can be more revelant.  No one is hurt because Sony Ericsson is losing money, im sure 100% of the individuals who posted here have no vested interest in the company and does not personally gain or lose based on its earnings.

Disagree. Apple are lucky if they have 1.5% marketshare.
Apple just happens to make profit extremely far above what is expected from such a small share, a bit like RIM.

The major competitors to SonyE are LG with 9.9% marketshare and growing, samsung with 19% and growing, and obviously nokia with the giant share.
Motorola has a severly falling 6.2%

SonyE has a falling 5.4%.

Figures from last quarter last year.

What so hard to understand? it´s a Sony owned company and its filled under Sony in disscussion.

i really dont get how they lose money when their phones are on of the more popular ones for old farts due to it being free with a 2-year contract on most cases.

They are loosing money because they spend this insane ammounts on R&D and on some ideas that seems to be insane sometimes.

A few monts ago we had an article about their projects that no one ever gets to see that was about sending smells from one phone to another like sending sms and the ammount of money they threw into that project was insane. Dont remember the ammount though but i remember thinking WTF when i read about it and thats only one of many projects like that.

Edit: Another project was this phone that you could unfold to get as big as a screen, dont really remeber what the purpose was for that phone but again it was a insane amount of money poured into it.
