Forums - Gaming Discussion - Holding out for Mass Effect PS3 until.....

3 years since the first ME launched on the 360 you want it on the PS3. ME2 on the PS3 would be pointless without playing through the first ME.

But having said that. Anything is possible. I actually would not be surprised if ME2 was released on the PS3 at a later date. Maybe ME and ME2 could be on a PS3 Blu-Ray game disc.

Mass Effect released as a trilogy would make the most sense for when to release it.  However, I wouldn't bank on that happening.

As for myself holding out,  I am holding out to buy Mass Effect 2 until I finish off a bunch of stuff I happened to bought over the holidays.  I haven't gotten through most of the stuff now.  I am personally about done with Red Faction.

Am I the only one who's not interested in Mass Effect. I seen the trailer yesterday here on VGCharts and it doesn't look that good and it definitly doesn't look like an RPG to me?

It is an action RPG, with the action being FPS style.  The game provides you decision trees that impact the story.  It would be up to you, as for what would be of interest to you.  Maybe it isn't your type of RPG, which is fine.

Get the PC version then, unless Microsoft gives up the publishling rights (which I doubt they will) you won't be getting it. Microsoft hasn't given up Halo or Gears of War yet, what makes you think they'll just give up Mass Effect?

If Splinter Cell Conviction comes to PS3 then Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 is a given.

It isn't a given, if Bioware has a contract with Microsoft, or has a special working relationship with Microsoft regarding the Mass Effect franchise.

Anyhow, I believe people need to stop this harping.  If you want the game THAT badly, get a PC that can run it well, or a 360.  It is ok to do this, you know.

I just watched the first 30 minutes of ME2, and really wasn't impressed. It's like Uncharted, in space. Except the enemy, dum robots, have no AI at all, they just stand there and get shot. It's third person like Uncharted, and uses cut scenes during loading just like uncharted. The cut scenes aren't motion captured as good as in Uncharted, and the main character, who you can customize, is bland with no personality whatsoever. You can make small changes to the story line now and then, but it's still linear. You 'hack' certain door locks by jumpering some circuit boards in a super simple mini game several times in the first 30 minutes. I was considering on getting this for pc, but really was surprised how I wasn't interested at all. I know the first 30 minutes isn't the whole game, but I just can't see what all the hype is about.

Uncharted patterns itself after Indiana Jones/National Treasure type movies, and are linear, with a bunch of gunplan.  Mass Effect is like a more story driven version of the old PC game Starflight, where you go to various locations.  It is not linear, but it does have a plot you can follow.  The focus with Mass Effect is the story and building up your character, with the action taking a back seat.  In Uncharted, the focus is on the action, and getting through the story, and there is NO statbuilding in it in the single game.

He doesn't get it at all. First of all Uncharted franchise are movies with gameplay that follows it taking from games like Tomb Raider, Killswitch Prince of Persia. Mass Effect has its movies but the gameplay overrules all else as it is an RPG and all the aspects together run the game. The movies are also intertwined with choices so they become interactive movies where you can affect the rest of the story. Uncharted is the exact opposite where the cut scenes basically help you follow the yellow brick road or you put in some button combination action scene that the devs never trusted you to evade in the first place.

If you have to get a 360 for Mass Effect 2 don't worry. There are plenty of other 360 exclusives (and 360 multi-plats that run better on the 360 like Bayonetta) that I'm sure you'll find enjoyment in. You just gotta keep an open-mind about games. It'll lead you to discover some games you'll truly enjoy.

My view in this subject:

I think that Mass effect series will get a release on ps3...why?

1- Many times bioware didn't want to talk about the ps3 version and they gave hints about it.
2- Microsoft had the 1st game rights, but now those rights are owned by EA...EA= Multiplat.
3- Mass effect 2 have a 6 months exclusive contract with EA, that's why bioware can't say anything about it.
4- In e3 2010 we'll have news about this.
5- Mass effect 3 is already in development, but this time for 360,PC & PS3...they'll not give any info about this game until the ps3 announcement, and maybe, on e3, we'll see Tretton talking about a Mass Effect Collection and Mass Effect 3 coming soon to Playstation 3.

I'm Back! - Proud owner of the best doomed handheld of all time!

I have so many games on pre-order and waiting on others to be released I actually don't have a problem waiting. Also I want to see what type of response it receives.
