Forums - Gaming - Gamerankings ratings: PS3 cod4 best of them all!!

PS3 only has 28 reviews... 360 has 43 reviews... .1% is not much of a difference considering the 360 has 15 more reviews. We will see where PS3 is at after a few weeks.

Yes soriku imagine cod 4 ends up at 95% and SMG ends up 95.1% its GOTY. .1% makes a huge difference. This means that the ps3 version is somewhat better than the 360 version FINALLY!!!

I thought this thread was a joke, but it sounds like you're actually serious.  I think you just replaced leo-j and W29 as "the reason vgchartz needs a ignore user" button.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

lol...but you know, at this point I would like an "ignore mod" button.  One in particular has just made me boil every time I get near this site.

First off, ps3 game runs at native 1080p(no matter what gamespot says). The main reason why it is scored higher on the ps3 is not because of the amount of reviews but becasue of the graphics.

This is so ridiculous......

Sorry but it's not in 1080p on PS3. Heres the official proof.

360 looks significantly crisper

Use gtHD better comparison.

Point you to my post above. Dude come on you serious?

Are you being sarcastic? You wont win. You yourself have not any proof to say the 360 version runs better, and has better textures. I can give you more than 2 links that state the ps3 version is the superior version. The ps3 version is still rated higher than the 360 version you cant argue with that.

I think the two versions are so similar that none of this matters, but because I dislike leo-j so much...

"runs better":

Hey Everyone --

I just wanted to let you know that we are fully aware of the issues with the PSN COD4 Matchmaking servers. We've been on the phone working with the server team from the moment they went down and will keep you updated as soon as they are back up.

Thanks for all the feedback on this issue, and I'll keep you guys updated.

What I really don't understand is how leo-j isn't banned, reason number 6381 being that he tries to pass of false information as fact: "First off, ps3 game runs at native 1080p(no matter what gamespot says)."
At this point I can't think of any reason why he's still around other than him posting ten thousand times a day is good for the site's ad revenue.

I'LL POST THIS FOR LEO-J's BENEFIT. He's talking out his arse!

I'll post this video I found. Click gtHD it gives much better picture comparison.

The 360 footage looks crisper and I believe this is why.

Both Xbox 360 and PS3 use a Native Resolution of 720p.

The Xbox 360 version also has a Native 1920x1080i mode that apparently does not come from an upconverted image from the hardware upconversion chip. This means the Xbox 360 version looks identical to 1080p, because the game runs at 60 frames per second.

The Xbox 360 uses the Hardware Upconversion chip to change the 1920x1080i mode to output in 1080p

There are rumors that say the PS3 version has a Native Resolution of 1080p, because "1080p" appears on the back of the PS3 box, just like the Xbox 360 box, but several website Forums and Gamespot have now confirmed that this is NOT true. The reason the PS3 version can be output in 1080p is because of a software "scalar" program similar to the one used in GT5 that is implemented into the PS3 version in order to make it more compatible with 1080i and 1080p HDTV sets.

Gamespot goes so far as to say that the Playstation 3 version is NEVER seen higher than 720p, even on a 1080p HDTV. This means that the "software scalar" program in this PS3 game isn't nearly as good as the "hardware scalar" chip in the Xbox 360, which truly does let you see the game in a resolution of 1080p that is output from the Xbox 360.

Nevertheless, the "software scalar" on COD4 for the PS3 can be seen in "720p" high-definition on 1080i and 1080p HDTV sets, unlike Resistance for the PS3...so, it is good news that they used the "software scalar" program--otherwise, you would be seeing the PS3 version of COD4 in only 480p resolution. In fact, as of November 7, 2007 it has been confirmed that if you have a 1080i HDTV set, then you will only see the PS3 version of Call of Duty 4 at 480p low-resolution, if you have a 1080i HDTV set.

I dunno, when I have my PS3 running with with 720p and 1080i disabled, the TV says the game is running in 1080p. Without forcing that, it says it's running at 720p. I would imagine that if I have the PS3 not able to display 720p and 1080i, it would default to 480p when I try to run a 720p/1080i game, no?

In fact, this video does the same thing if you need the proof.
