Did you even read the OP? The excellent post by Reasonable above? It's a reference to how you already know the way the story will play out, not an expectation for sales success. |
Oh I see, that is a perfect metaphor then. It's not like we know any other historical event where we knew what was going to happen and lots of people died................. that also had a record for highest grossing movie of all time.
I see no reference at all to titanic. Where exactly did he get 700 million people? And last time I checked Reach isn't "hugely anticipated" just yet, it's still almost a year away. Nonetheless, it looks pretty sweet from screenshots.
The creative director of Halo: Reach has likened the game's story to cinema smash Titanic - referencing it as a 'very dark tale to tell'. |
Oh No!! It's going to have poorly designed characters, a really slow begining, bad acting, a stupid plot that miss a huge potential focusing only on 2 characters and a horrible theme song??

1. We knew how Titanic was going to end, and we know how this is going to end.
2. Halo: Reach takes place on the space colony, Reach, which houses some 700 million people

Of course, in the beginning we as the player all know what's going to happen in the end, but hopefully the developers will use the story and the characters in a way that we care more about them and their story than we do the eventual outcome (Kinda like the story of Titanic focusing more on Jack and Rose than the actual ship). That way we can focus on the present, whether that means blasting the baddies or triggering an awesome sequence. That way, when the fall of Reach does happen, even though we knew it was coming, it can still be moving... because the characters we've come to know have been affected by it. |
Well written.
This is exactly what I am looking forward to from this title.
Lol Titantic? Reach should be like avatar or something =) Joking

So you would rather he use some obscure example that potentially many people know nothing about? Halo Reach is like Hotel Rwanda, yea that sounds a lot better I think this is called reading too much into a comment. He's drawing parallels between the stories, beyond that your just speculating aka pulling shit out of your ass.
Also some people in this thread need serious reading comprehension, although thats nothing new at vgchartz.
The definitive evidence that video games turn people into mass murderers

Outside of trying to annnoy people, why are you in this thread?
I can't belive how many people here lack basic comprehension skills. This has been stated before, but they are obviously referring to the fact that "people know how the story ends". It's a huge tragedy where many people die and we basically know the ending. What is important is the story in between.
