Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Halo: Reach is Titanic of games, says Bungie

It's obvious he means the film...

But you just know people will take this out of context and dub Halo as a sinking ship.

And right now he's only talking about the story of the film... and how it relates to the story of Reach.

But I'm sure Bungie would like Halo: Reach to see the same sort of success that Titanic saw.

But yeah, for some people the title itself was just too good/bad to be true.

Boo Titanic isn't crap, It's a great movie.

Lol at pic! Kudos and Reasonable is said it very well.

I certainly hope that the story will be nothing like Titanic's....

Well, he's referring to the fact you went into Titanic knowing how it was going to end - everybody dies, mostly.

You go into Reach knowing how it's going to end - everybody dies, mostly

I'm actually curious about this. For Reach to work within their own mythology you must essentially fail at the SP campaign - i.e. you can't win or save Reach. The Covenant have to fall, you have to lose.

Going to be interesting to see how people react to that. Mind you, these days it won't affect the title as its the MP that drives the game, although his comments give me hope they're going to give SP campaign some proper attention this time, I've found with Halo that I find the MP gets better and the SP get's worse over time.

Congratulations.  You win because of your reading comprehension skills, which are apparently quite rare here.

I think it doesn't help that a lot of people seem to post based on the thread title without even reading the post.  Thanks anyway.  Pity I've noticed a typo now - it should say the Covenant have to win and you have to lose.  Oh well, that's what the edit button's for.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

This means that Reach could have what most FPS(Halo 3 included) don't have......a good storyline behind it that will drive the action on!!! Like Killzone 2

Except Killzone doesn't have a good story (or at least it doen't pull it off in an engaging manner) and it also has Rico...let's hope Reach has no one like him.

I do hope that it will be nothing like Titanic... it was one of the most dissapointing movies ever created :-| let Halo be Halo and Titanic be Titanic

Sigh, I still remember its best moment, when Di Caprio disappears in the icy waters with all the girls in the cinema sobbing and their boyfriends and brothers laughing like mad and shouting "About time"!

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")

the hype train is way outta control. Titanic? Really?

Did you even read the OP?  The excellent post by Reasonable above?  It's a reference to how you already know the way the story will play out, not an expectation for sales success.

Great... now I want to play a Titanic game.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I get what he's saying, in that we know how it'll end already, yet we'll experience playing through the events leading up the the Fall of Reach, like how we watched the lives of those eventually lost in the movie Titantic, and the ship's ultimate downfall.
