I call this intentional. Sony is loosing money on each console sold, now they want to make some money back before the fiscal year ends with all the huge games that are coming out during Q1, selling huge amounts of software but not a lot of hardware.
When i bought mine, there was no 120 gig in stock.
Dunno, but my local wal-mart has only 4 120GB slims VS about 17 to 20 Wii's and around 15 360's.
My local gamestop is low on PS3's aswell, i forget how much the nice girl said but meh.

I doubt this, you have to remember yes they do make losses, but with every PS3 sale, there is a chance of more software sales, I think it is down to Sony, they dd not expect the PS3 Slim to sell this well, it is as simple as that, they need to start making more, they are suffering from the same problem as the Wii had back in 2007, lots of demand and not enough PS3's to go around...

not totally.Retailers get stock of the PS3's but very shorst like i have been monitoring Gamestop and Amazon and they get 5-6 PS3 and then they are out of stock for next 8-10 hours.
also there are only shortages of 120gb ones not 250gb.I think sony are not shipping 120gb cause they are making a loss on 120gb ones and trying to sell the 250gb cause they are making profit on it.
How are online retailers out of stock? Don't they just let you order but give you a longer shipping time if they don't have the stock immediately to hand? It would get shipped directly from the factory in China anyway.

PS3's have been in stock at Amazon.com daily. Wii is having the same issues.
This usually happens in January for most systems after the holidays. Hopefully Sony is set for March for their big releases.
It's just that simple.
