Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Rumor: No Half-Life In 2010

After Left 4 Dead 2 shipped, hopeful souls assumed that Valve would throw all their energy into finishing Half Life 2: Episode Three. Maybe that's true but you shouldn't expect the game anytime soon.

The February 2010 issue of Game Informer states that there won't be a new Half-Life game released in 2010. What's more, it's not even clear what form a new game would take. It could be Half-Life 2: Episode Three or it may be Half-Life 3.

GI makes no mention of Portal, the other series set in the Half-Life universe. In the summer of 2008, Valve put out a casting call for Portal 2 voice actors but we haven't heard a peep about that game since. The designer of the original game, Kim Swift, recently left Valve so we may be a long way from seeing P2 as well.

Isn't this coming to the PC?

Well it would most likely require a Windows operating system still run by MS :P

Tho I'm sure Valve will put out something. A year without any games doesn't seem to be profitable lol.

It's just that simple.

STEAM makes them money, no?

Valve probably makes shittons more off of Steam than they do off their own games.

I still have to beat Episode 2.

I just played TOB about 4 months ago, so my wait isn't as bad as others. Still, Half Life 2 has done its best to ruin the argument for episodic gaming. This is just a rumor, and sometimes these rumors are put out there to force real information from the devs and pubs. But, truthfully, what evidence is there out there to think HL2:E3 is coming this year?

It only takes 5 hours and is brilliant throughout (much better than ep 1). You should give it a go!

- why in MS forum ?

- who cares about Half-life, right now ?

Time to Work !

I'm not sure why, but it's so weird to read a rumor that a game that no one is expecting to come out in 2010 actually won't come out in 2010!

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!
