final fantasy crystal chronicles the crystal bearers and silent hill shattered memories. they both sold less than 50k last month. i guess that means they arent doing good so far.
im guilty as charged i didnt get either game. but i am broke. :(
I don't think it was totally unexpected but yeah, I thought they would've done a little better. It's sad, I've heard some interesting things about Shattered Memories.
Silent Hill was never a hit series, and the recent fan disappointment with the previous few games has hurt the following.
And Crystal Bearers was given almost no hype over here before launch.

I bought FF -- though I probably should not have.
Need to pick up SH.

I am Mario. I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. Silly man, every single 3rd party game on the wii fails, except the mini gamez collectionz
03/10/09 HUGE day in my life:
I'm all for supporting quality 3rd party offerings on Wii, since they are rare, but there are a few cases in which I recognize the games are quality, but I still don't care about them, and I don't really care about either of these games. I do wish they sold a little better though to encourage more devs to make better efforts, although I can in part see why they didn't.
FF:CC is a crappy game and a radical departure from the tradtional FF games if the reviews are correct, plus didn't it release like the day after christmas? Those factors would be more than enough to do this one in.
Silent Hill I was initially confused as to why it flopped, but then I heard the HD Silent Hill did almost as poorly, with like 150k combined on both platforms.. So with that in mind it shouldn't be a surprise this one didn't sell. Add this to the fact that the game had very little advertising.
Like I said before, 99% of the time there is a logical explanation as to why a 3rd party Wii title didn't sell aside from "Teh stupid cazuals!" and "Wii gamers only want Nintendo games!!1"
I don't know if I'd go that far, but I do think both titles deserve to do better certainly; I think both will eventually find lifetime totals. IF you ask me, though, I think SH:SM is the better of the two; FFCB is good but not stellar--but again, this is just the first month of sales; let's see how they do in the longrun.
Either way, I don't think this will translate to Konami and Square-Enix jumping ship; both still have projects coming to Wii (the former a racing game I saw on GoNintendo.com, the latter DQX.)
Soriku said: Well TCB deserved to fail...and while SH is good it's never been that big of series. I'm sure it'll be another case of a gamed that was proclaimed a failure at first and got some pretty good sales when we check again later. Same goes for TCB though. |
you should aim to work for PR, you hyped the hell outta TCB, and now you say it deserved to fail.... LOL, and now you're downplaying the bad sales of both games. Bottom line both of them bombed, give it up.
Hold on, now, lets give both of these titles time for at least another month. Then we'll see what happens.

Are you forgetting the reviewers knock down Wii games these days? Now saying the games great, but not crappy.
