Thanks for the fast replies, I was just wondering If it is unwise to buy a PS3 this far into the generation, I don't want to buy it and watch the PS4 come out right after.

PS4 certainly won't be out this year or next, so there is still plenty of time until the PS4 will come around, there is plenty of time left in this generation

buy it if there are 5-7 games for it that you want to buy (not necessarily all at once of course). Oh, and don't listen to those two. Buy Valkyria Chronicles first.

I second nordlead.

Do buy Uncharted 2, but first buy Uncharted 1. It'll be a really cheap game to buy now and it is a very good game in its own right. Check out Uncharted 1's sales, they are doing quite well these days because people want to play both games.

If you don't already have it, and you want to play the console version, then I think Dragon Age Origin's is a good purchase for the PS3. PC is the definitive version though.

InFamous is a very good action game PS3 exclusive.

You like action and platformer games? And you don't have a PS3? You are missing out on one of the all time great action/platformer game franchises. Get thee to a game store, buy thyself a PS3 and purchase thou Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, thence download Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty, and ultimately procurest Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time.

Is it worth getting a PS3 if you like FPS, RPG, Action and Platformer? Hell Yeah!!

Oh okay thanks. Oh, another question I have is, can the PS3 slim play PS1 games? I know It can't play PS2 games but what about PS1?

Also, can it play DVDs?

Yes on the DVD's assuming they're the correct region (can even upscale too) and I believe PS1 backwards compatibility hasn't been affected.

@gamer

Yes as far as I know ps3 slim still plays PS1 games and reads DVD movies.

Oh that's good.

My friend who has a 360 tells me that PS3 isn't good for online gaming because you can never find people online to play with, is this true? He says If I want to play games online I should get a 360 instead. But I prefer free online service and the PS3 exclusives, White Knight Chronicles looks like a lot of fun but if I can't find people online to play with that will kill a big part of the game.

That's no reason to avoid buying a PS3. There's tons of good content on the PS3 and more yet to come. Even if PS4 gets announced at E3 this year for release in 2011 (not gonna happen) PS3 only becomes obsolete TO YOU if you buy a PS4 at launch. If you waited this long to think about getting a PS3 then you can surely wait a year or 2 after PS4 comes out before you pick one up. That way you can easily get 4-5 years of gaming out of your PS3. Also once a new system comes out all the games for the previous system get cheaper, even new releases. There are plenty of advantages to sticking with the "old" system in the early stages of a new console generation. Not least of which is avoiding the inevitable higher hardware failures of the first release batches, compared to latter batches.

PS3 can play PS2 games: All PS2 Singstar games are playable on PS3, as long as you have a PS3 Singstar game. OK OK I know it's not in your list of favourite genres, but it's still a form of backwards compatibility with PS2.

I play online A LOT and I don't think I have even once had trouble finding players to play with. Your friend sounds like he is talking out of his ass.
