Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Daemon Hatfield is Sauron, and IGN is under siege

I read the whole thing. It was a little over the top.... but it was well-written, covereed a lot of bases.

I've shown distaste towards Demon Hatfield for a while. I started to go to IGN less and less for review scores, but now I will just abandon them all together.

It's was a good couple years, but its over. I got VGChartz!

Maybe the IGN editors are going through some sort of mid-life crisis.

Or more realistically, the majority of them just suck ass.

Or maybe both?

Actually, I've quite often gotten the vibe that guys like Matt and Craig are trying to 'let go' of IGN and let other people do most of the work, as if they're tired of the site themselves...or even games or something.  They do give off that touch of 'Mid-life crisis' feel in some of their articles.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Sauron isn't bad guy. The guy just has big ambitions!

Great article with a lot of great metaphors. I was pretty loyal to IGN for a long time. After their recent overhaul, which didn't make any improvements in my mind, just put on a different dress. I haven't really been frequenting there at all. I used to check wii.ign.com daily mind you. Metacritic and gamerankings just seem to be all I need along with vgchartz and a smaller forum I frequent for friendly personal opinions rather than articles written for traffic and more. I respect most of the IGN nintendo guys but have had a bad taste in my mouth recently.

I guess I am an Dwarf. Nice.

Also, I agree with the overall synopsis and the play on Lord or the Rings mythology is remarkable.

Nice read, thanks for posting.

Great read. One of the best posts ive read in a long time.

I wonder what it would take for IGN to redeem itself after this.

A couple of nice reviews to third-parties games isn't going to change anything methinks.

Guess I'm a Dwarf as well. Whoda thunk it.

Nice LoTR analogy, but what about Hobbits? :p
