Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Daemon Hatfield is Sauron, and IGN is under siege

Nice read.
I gave up on IGN a long time ago, anyway.

Interesting read, however, I think this person gives far too much credit to IGN.

I still believe them to be one of the best content providers [of gaming news] in that regard. But they are, in my opinion, in danger of treading down a dark path which will change them irrevocably for the worse.
I think they have already gone down that path, and have been for at least a year now. For example, Casamassina lost all journalistic integrity when he said he was going to give Wii Music a bad review well before he actually reviewed the game.
Casamassina's and Harris's love and respect for Nintendo is legendary, and while most Nintendo fans (while not most Nintendo fanboys) can accept their criticisms as valid, Hatfield's are not only baseless but vulgar. Both Matt and Craig's articles were well articulated with reasoning and were altruistic in nature. Hatfield's was just an outright slam, and the irony is that while Matt and Craig both penned articles which, in my opinion, strengthened the argument against Nintendo, Hatfield merely gave fuel to those who say IGN is a biased sham of a website with no credibility regarding Nintendo criticism.
It is true that these two are nowhere near as bad as Hatfield, but that doesn't mean they are completely innocent either. I have heard plenty of ridiculous stuff in their podcasts, and let's not forget who wrote that silly 'Nintendo is lazy and you don't care' article (it was Casamassina).

I've disliked Daemon Hatfield ever since he gave Tales of Symphonia 2 a bad review! I never really paid too much attention to who was reviewing games at IGN but I had considered not buying the game after reading the review, but had I listened I would have missed out on one of my favorite games of this generation! I've noticed how bad Mr. Hatfield was ever since then!!

I'd also like to point out one guy on their staff who mostly goes un-noticed but seems to do a ton of their reviews. And seemingly for every RPG, 'Anime' based game and 'underrepresented' game on the Wii and DS (Little King's Story, Muramasa, Dragon Quest, etc). Its Mark Bozon. Possibly just as bad as Daemon Hatfield and certainly bases everything on his opinion.  And to top it off, he's even admitted to not being a fan of RPGs and most ANime, yet they give him nearly all games in both those fields.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Amusing.

Hey, this guy should replace Hatfield in IGN, he can actually be a good game journalist :D.

What do you call a half elf-half dwarf?

Bozon is probably the best of the bunch. He's the only one who doesn't seem completely opposed to Nintendo's philosophy, unlike graphics whore, PSP fanboy and rumor monger Cassamassina, and hates-the-casuals Hatfield.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Wow, that was a fantastic read. I hope somebody over at IGN reads this
