Duh. We don't have to be objective about the games we like/dislike. :)

Trolling as usual I see ;)
OT: FFXIII of course. It's my favourite franchise. I'm not into sci fi.

I know, but the context you put it in at first confused me. Now if you said "I don't have to play these games to know which one is better", I wouldn't have said anything.
Edit: There you go, another guy was mislead by your comment.

Mass Effect 2, because I like Bioware's games because they give you choices and a nice story instead of cookie cuter characters and a overcomplicated story with loads of plot holes.

Yeah, but to be fair I meant that ignoring the overlap people usually know if they like a jrpg or a wrpg better.

Actually it is an issue of quality. WRPG's are quality-wise better this gen than they ever were, which is why their popularity is growing. They are gathering more story which keeps the gamer interested and they can have their effect on the outcome of the world around them. It's well known that both games are awesome, but Mass Effect on the RPG list has to be near the top these days. |
I think it depends. On home consoles, clearly WRPG's have had more quality titles than JRPG's, I think that's undeniable, but if you factor in Handhelds, there have been many quality titles, which can equal the amount of quality WRPG's released.
About FFXIII and ME2, even if you go by qualified reviews, I think you'll find them to be very equal in the end, even though I still think that ME2 will gain a bit more recognition than FFXIII in the end.
My point is, that there isn't such a massive quality gap, if you look at the overall panorama of both genres. It's a matter of trends, and the nowadays trend tends to favor WRPG's over JRPG's.
Current PC Build
CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"
But you have to factor in that FF is one of the biggest franchises in america even though WRPGS are more popular FFXIII will sell more due to popular brand name.

I don't see how that works. How can you know what you like more with out even experiencing it?
