Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Bungie: Be A Hero! (Haiti)

You know what I think Bungie should do?  Take their own money and send that to the aid of the people of Haiti.  I really tire of all the "rich" corporations asking the common man to go without while they sit on piles of cash.  Most people do not know this but 85 percent of all the worlds wealth is controlled by 5% of the worlds population.  If even 1% of them would give 1% of their wealth it would be enough to help rebuild that country and keep it running in the black for 10 years.  It has always been this way, the  "have's" asking the "have not's" for handouts; I guess this is how the rich stay rich.

Try reading the original post this time. Mainly the

PLAY HALO & WE'LL DONATE $77,000! part.
Where do you think that $77,000 comes from? Bungie's pocket. And while I'm at it, the profits they make from fans purchasing their merchandise is their (it would go into their pockets) money and guess what? They're giving away 100% of it.
Oh and by the way it will take more than a couple of million to rebuild the country and it's infrastructure. Possibly billions.

"For every thousand heroes that participate, we will make a $100 donation on behalf of Bungie and our fan community to the Red Cross for Haiti relief efforts, up to a maximum of $77,000."

I guess you failed to see the point of my conversation and that was that 5% of the population I.E. the super rich could could give 1% of their income and this problem would go away in one night.  Bungie is just one of many companies that profit from video games, movies, music, etc that could give 1% of their bottomline and could rebuild Haiti in  no time flat.  I know that you are very accustom to disagreeing with people that have different points of view so I know that most this is going over your head.  1 billion dollars is small potatoes to the top 5% of our population, that is not even 1 percent of their combined wealth.  77,000 is a great number but really how much over the years have big companies like bungie made on gamers like us?  Exactly.....my original post still stands.

I'll simply add this: some money is better than no money. Plus, Halo is a fun game so we're not forcing ourselves to play just so they can give the cash.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Your response to my opinion was an epic fail due to the fact that I was talking about how corporations look for donations from their customers (i.e. the t-shirt).  They should be looking for this capital from the worlds elite (I.e. the super rich).  See this is what happens when you cherrypick a post instead of just reading it to comprehend what the post was all about.  This was not a "snipe" against bungie, but more of a world wide dilemma that seems to happen to all patrons of consumer products.

That I will agree with, there should be nothing more to come from the gamer after he has spent his 60$ for game software.  The fact they are willing to put up something is admirable, but we all know that it simply is not enough.

Excellent idea.  How do I get to this land of rainbows and lollipops you speak of?

Yeah, I know. I don't really want to pronounce myself on this, but I also hate it when we see commercials telling us that we should reduce our pollution by closing our lights at night and many more stuff when the biggest enemies in the whole story are the multinationals themselves.
