Forums - Gaming - why do people trade game systems?

Sure you might want the money, but wouldn't it be easier to just unplug the darn thing? Or sell it to a close friend or family member so you don't totally eliminate the option of buying your entire library back.

Heck just sell it on ebay or craigslist. At least you will get more than enough money to buy a taco.

What I hate even more than a seller is a trader. I used to be addicted to gamestop and their trade policy. Once I realized that they were ripping me off and that their clientelle aren't exactly the most sophisticated people to be around I just use best buy instead. Gamestop has only been used when I want to find a game from this generation that isn't sold in most stores anymore. Like elite beat agents, or warioware touched.

I also have a lot of fun reading stories on something awful about people who have brought in pirated chinese game systems that were full of roaches.

Because taking it into gamestop is easier then going through the process of selling it on cragislist or ebay.

True I guess, but handing it down to your nephew would be more worthwhile since you are giving it to family as opposed to giving it away free to a sweaty guy that smells like nachos.

I did. ...I don't anymore, dumb things to do, Rosie.

I agree. Sorry about this thread I suppose somebody was going to bring up a story about something they saw.

Trading systems in at the end of their respective life cycle is the only time I do it. I usually do it to get some dough off the new system that is coming out. In my case I was a xbox gamer and you see how microsoft supported the original system after the 360 launched. I took that xbox and traded it in for 100$ off a ps3 (plus I got like $250 dollars for all the 60+ games I still had). Since now I do not go to gamestop anymore and I make way more money then I used to, I will keep my ps3 this time and just pick up any system I think will peek my fancy next console cycle.
