1996-2001 Sony brought in a new era gaming that needed jolt....the SNES was successful...the N64 had one or two moments but not enough to keep me with the Nintendo family after worshipping the ground NES and SNES walked...Ocarina of Time is one of the overrated games period...not even best in Zelda series to me....I really wished back in the mid 90's that Nintendo would stop making systems and just makes software...which will probably happen in the next 2-4 years hopefully

90's on pc. Great era of exploration and innovation, which pretty much ended because of repetitive console games. :/

1987-1998 (Maniac Mansion - Grim Fandango)

Well I chose 1996-2001 but I'm sure there is some bias in there. I mean I was a kid, SM64 made me the gamer I am today, and it was my first every experience with a Zelda game that made me go play all the others. Like John Stewart criticized the Fox pundits for, everything is great an awesome when your a kid (was making fun of them for always saying a time when they were growing up is always better).

But unlike the Fox pundits, I really do thing the 5th generation was quite amazing. Obviously I didn't have a PS1 nor have I ever, but I think N64 did enough for me as it was. Not to mention a little known game called Pokemon (sarcasm) came out during that time and changed the world... changed my world. There was just too many things I played during that time (Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Pokemon, Goldeneye 007, Rogue Squadron, etc.) that just changed my world and really just made me into the gamer I am today.

But if the bias of being a kid is too much to overlook, then this generation now is easily my favorite. As much as I liked the 5th and the 6th, I also love the 7th. Of course I own all 3 systems this time (first ever in a generation) and I have the expenditures to fuel them all with good games (although PS3 gets shafted). So maybe another factor that changes the outcome. Either way still a great time.

                                       That's Gordon Freeman in "Real-Life"

It's tough to choose between the PS1 and PS2 ages.

But my top three games (FFX, P3FES and MGS3) belong to the PS2, so, PS2.

I voted for 1996-2001, may PS1 forever live on in all of our hearts

it's the future of handheld

defienetly the N64 vs ps1 era. I had bought a nintendo 64 at a young age, I was about 4. My first game was mario party 3, it was amaazing! Then I got super smash bros and mario 64 and my world had changed. After that there was ocarina of time, Greatest game of all time in my opinion. I also LOVED and put so much ime into pokemon stadium 1 and I played a little of 2 but I liked the first better. Those games were truly amazing! I never had a ps1, but I did play it at my cuzins house very often and I really liked it. We would play mgs1 but it was so hard for us we quit and started playing crash. (we were only like 6 or 7 years old). I liked the n64 better cuz I had one, but if I had a ps1 I think it would of ave been great as well.
