But it does get 3rd party support. And that's my point.

So the HD consoles get their 3rd party support and the Wii gets its 3rd party support (which according to charts, sells more).

See? 3rd party software all around. The market remains competitive. Isn't that good?

Now if like Khuutra said, you want the same kind of support the HD consoles have, you should... I don't know, buy one?

Go back and look at the list of 09 games from third parties in this thread, and tell me they put the same sort of effort into Wii games as they do the HD consoles. The fact that there are the rare exception does not mean that the Wii gets strong support. Support is not just measured in the number of games you get, nor is it measured in the resultant sales of said exceptions. It's measured in effort and investment.

See I just don't accept that.

I'm gonna repeat this again: IT SELLS MORE 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE than the other consoles. It gets support. Granted it might not be the kind of support YOU want, but it does get support!

Taking away support from the HD consoles right now would mean that you want the console that's already kicking ass to kick ass even harder! That would not be good! Competition is good for the market. Every console should get 3rd party support.

If the Wii was only selling 1st party titles and ALL the 3rd party support were going to the HD consoles, I would see your point. But that's not what's happening.

It's fine, the longer the industry at large takes to turn around (and I'm talking all sectors; developers, publishers, retail, media, self-righteous middleware peddlers, etc) the more morons will be driven out of business. Nintendo's going to still be here in 10 years, I can't really say the same with any certainty for most large 3rd party publishers.

"Focusing on HD gaming is suicide. And no one will stand to gain from this in the long run. Except Nintendo."

Assuming you mean "gain from this" as in the current gaming strategies, instead of focusing on HD gaming.

It's just stupid to ignore the fastest selling console ever. It's the choice of the people, the mainstream. Company SHOULD DO ANYTHING to get a piece of all that money Nintendo is making. They wont leave it alone, 67 million userbase is a goldmine.

Precisely. Even if the cores aren't there, you MAKE them migrate! You just cannot ignore such an istalled base! Instead, most companies insult their own target audience, they put out "tests" or crappy games, then accuse the platform of being incapable / inhospitable >_>

But they are there...

For example, why didn't capcom make RE5 for the Wii? Certainly not because the demographics aren't there, as evidence by RE4:Wii's sales. If anything it was about graphics and the developer's wishes.

This is why I don't think it's about sales or demographics, for most publishers at least.

And they also get some support ($) from MS and Sony which Nintendo won't ever do. Nintendo is not the nicest company to deal with either.

As said on other post, SE just put out FF:CB within a month. Sure, its been announced for some time now, and even rumored to be dead, but it's still out and recent.

Also, for Capcom, MH3 hasn't come to the west yet, so can't totally leave that one out.

Not disagreeing with you, just correcting the list a bit.

This isn't really fair. Nintendo not moneyhatting shouldn't be taken as a negative, because it shouldn't be expected

true. actually, having to moneyhat third parties to make games for you should be seen as a negative.

What is the support you are talking about? Carnival Games and Cabela's Big Game Hunt? I'm quite glad of that support, those are healthy to have. But explain to me how the occassional break out of a well made but inexpensive game means that Wii gets the most support? The vast majority of the games are turds, they're idiotic games that made by people who think they just have to make a mini game collection with a cute theme and they'll profit. That or clone one of Nintendo's games, without even keeping the quality.
