Tridrakious said: Well apparently I'm in the minority. I just figured the PS3 had a real shot at a stellar last full year in Japan and it would be all thanks to the holiday release schedule for the Japanese. I have a feeling the Wii U won't dominate the PS3 and the PS3 will have a very strong year. |
Obviously, I don't agree that the PS3 is going to beat the 3DS in Japan (if only because Handhelds > Consoles over there), but you're not wrong that PS3 is gonna get a massive boost this holiday season. And to the people who were saying to you "Sequels don't sell consoles", all I have to say is "wat".
Just a couple of examples:
Halo Reach (3rd Halo game on the 360): http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/40440/Global/
+67% boost for the first week, +28% the following week, held the sales for the third week.
Or to use an example a little closer to this chart and less interrupted by FIFA:
Mario party 9 in Japan (second Mario Party game on the Wii): http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41028/Japan/
+34% boost for the first week, +64% the following week, then it dropped.
Anyway, moral of the story, sequels do boost hardware, at the very least in the short-term.
