But aside from the huge hardware figures, on the software side NSMBW was up over 400k from predictions.

I believe the NSMBW page on Vgchartz has been adjusted up (once again!), but I don't know by what figure.

The question is... did New Super Mario Bros. Wii sell 10 million copies in 7 weeks after all?

vgchartz numbers are just over 10m (28k over), so most likely it did do 10m in 7 weeks, but hey, 7/8 weeks either way it is a new record and an incredible sales pace.

I agree, either 7/8 is fantastic and a new record. I like to believe it achieved the unbelievable and did it in 7 based on that though. :)

It did it ha ha now the only one to beat that record is nintendo and guess what if they don't it'll take 20 years for somone else to do it

I'm not pretty sure, but the European numbers were adjusted (specifically in the 4th week). So, it only took NSMBWii 7 weeks to pass the 10m mark. That's HUGE!

In looking at NPD, NSMBWii appears to have outsold MW2 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 COMBINED in the month of December.
Admittedly, those games were released in November -- but so was NSMBWii.
But still, Reggie's boast may come true in US/NA.
And the worldwide numbers are crushing.

for those interested NSMBWii would have to outsell CoD by over 1.6m in January alone. I don't think that is going to happen due to the massive dropoffs in sales. With 4 weeks in January that would mean NSMBWii would have to sell 400k/week and CoD would have to stop selling which won't happen.
