I was talking more about the original/Black/Sigma
You're ready to call that game a button masher even after beating it on Master Ninja Mode? Even though the Izuna Drop's usefulness plummets like a rock and you have to be a lot more tactical with your combos?
Well, the original Ninja Gaiden Black in NORMAL is a different beast, it's more skill demanding that NG2/NGS2 in normal.
Hard, very hard and Master ninja is a total different experience, specially NG Black. I'm very proud I beat Black in Master Ninja. That's no button-mashing. But my point is, if you have a normal mode that is just "easy" to beat chaining combos mindlessly, that's just button-mashing. You have to grade the game by its normal mode, that's what the game throws at you in your 1st playthrough.
BUT. Ninja Gaiden is more tactical than Bayonetta by miles. But still, a button-masher it is.
Bayonetta is all about witch time, can't you see? even if you play it on the hardest mode, I doubt there'll be any difference to your fighting tactics. Sure, you'll have to be more careful, and probably really learn a couple of hard-hitting combos, stay back and be more patient, but in the end, where the meat is at is this "evade, +activade witch time+ combo" the enemies won't react any different in witch time just because the difficulty is set on hardest.

exactly..no offense to the staff.
Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^
We are at an impasse concerning our definition of button-mashing.
But the hardest mode on Bayonetta? It doesn't have Witch Time at all.
^you mean it won't ever activate? that sounds more like an insane difficulty or something really hardcore. I wonder how the game plays.

Kind of like how I'm playing it now, only harder.
It'll activate for puzzles and whatnot, and there's a magic item you can unlock if you beat the game in under three hours, but otherwise, yeah, it never appears at all. Dodge or counter, doesn't matter.
My understanding is that it forces people out of their comfort zone and causes them to have to learn the mechanics of combat outside of Witch Time. I look forward to it, once I beat the game on Hard.
It's call "Non-Stop Infinite Climax Mode"
go figure
well, now that's just something extra, not really how the game is intended to be or designed for. That's alright for hardcore fans of the game , though.
I came in this thread to see two things: Why people weren't buying Bayonetta, and what people had to say about Madworld possibly outperforming it in America. Unfortunately no on addressed issue number 2 but I'm seeing that most of the anti-Bayonetta sentiments are spawning from ignorance.
I mean, God of War clone? Really? I think you need to recheck who made strides in this genre.
