Did I read this correctly? Resistance is outselling Killzone 2? I swore people were telling me before that NO WAY that would happen.

kay' next question, why didn't it do halo sales? please dont bite my head off im just curious.

Halo permanently put FPS games on the map as a viable, and very profitable genre, for consoles.  It has the name recognition and is known for being this.  Call of Duty does similar for multi-console FPS titles.   People buy XBox systems to play FPS titles.   It is hard to imagine this reversing, with one title, despite how people here screamed how Killzone 2 was going to be a game changer.  Even if they didn't say "game changer" the comments about Killzone 2 were there.

Maybe the whole issue is it's still selling at 69.99
and it used to sell for 59.99
They marked the price up.

Honestly, do JRPG makers even realize how hard it is to save the world? That shit is impossible!

lol, I've see a lot of xmas newbies online as of late so I guess thats a good thing. IDK why anyone would pick R2 over Kz2 but to each his own. I'll get back to KZ2 now.

If I want to do split-screen play, I don't have much of a choice in the matter.  KZ2 doesn't offer it but R2 does.

Is it still full priced in US? it's Platinum here in the UK and pretty damn cheap, especially for the quality being FPS of the Year.

not really... until now it only proves that it got there faster... the last weeks numbers aren't so bright... i am afraid that only U1 fans are buying U2... hope my opinion change in the near future!

How so, if Uncharted 2 was a system seller?

Why were people talking about Uncharted 2 being a system seller?  Maybe it had a marginal bump for the PS3 when it came out (around the same time as the Slim/Price cut), but people were making it out to be some sort of thing that pushes more PS3s.  I didn't get this at all, and I am fan of the Uncharted series.

I didn't by it because (based on the hype) after playing it, my life would be complete. I'd have no more goals or aspirations, anymore. I'd have tasted perfection.

Because it caused a 19-25% spike in PS3 sales for the week of it's release. Therefore, it didn't sell to just the same Uncharted 1 fans and was a system seller, even if it wasn't a huge one. I really don't feel like going through this again though, it's redundant and off-topic.

The way this relates is when connected to the expectations game.  Like, now you are seeing questions about Killzone 2, which was a fine game for what it was, and worthy as praise, as being a failure.  The expectations game made people in the hype to make it out to be some sort of game changing title.  I have seen similar with Uncharted 2, which now is made out to be some sort of system seller.  And now we also see a flop label being put on Killzone 2, due to the hype.

Killzone 2 broke over 2 million, likely made a profit for Sony, and has a bunch of cool features in it, and has a lot of technical prowless in it.  It isn't for everyone though.  If left in being a good PS3 title, and not used as fanboy ammo, it is real good.  However, in this thread we have seen one person go so far as to say Sony should drop Killzone as a franchise.  The 2008-2009 set up Killzone 2 buzz to an extreme.

Anyhow, if a title can't even make a profit selling over 2 million, I believe the industry has a serious problem on its hands.  One has to hope that the entire industry isn't based on getting a few top franchises with everything else coming in a a loss, and the top franchises as being defined at over 5 million in sales.

I dont know if there is much wrong with its sales...

but I do remember you and CGI arguing strongly that it was a mathematical impossibility for it to be at less than 2.4m by the end of 2009.

He predicted 2.4 million lifetime, not 2.4 million by the end of 2009.  And the only "strong" argument I made was against those claiming it's lifetime sales would be just barely north of 2 million.

You can see it all in the original thread.

Even with the game's pitiful legs, it'll at least do 2.5 million lifetime.  It's already at 2.2 million.
