It's almost as if consumers look at the box, see that Sony logo in the corner and then just put the game down and immediately walk away.

It's as if people are allergic to good first party Sony games this gen.

Uncharted 2 doesn't seem to agree. And, again, PlayStation games have never had huge sales. It's always been about the size of the library and it's quality. Not how many sales each game gets.

first time i am not with you... U2 is selling very badly... is selling to U1 fans that already had the knowledge about the great quality of the game so it sold very well in the first and following weeks but now... after just a couple of months is selling poorly and being overtaken by AC2, a latter launched game, also a second game of a new IP but being the first game allot worse than U1 was... although AC2 is a very good game it doesn't make much sense selling better in PS3 than U2...

like KZ2 there is allot of things that dont make any sense to me in the PS3 userbase! maybe its just me!

I'm not sure that makes any sense, especially considering it's doing what Uncharted 1 did in MUCH less time WITHOUT the excessive bundling. So your right, you're not with me.

you are right ... its selling well, comparing to U1... and U1 needed bundling being a new IP... and those who bought the first almost for sure bought U2 already and that proves the quality of the first game and the quality of this one too... but comparing to AC2 is just mind blowing the fact that U2 ain't getting the love and sales it deserves... i really hope more people would play this amazing game... first one i ever bought a special edition...

It *is* weird that the game has just dropped like a stone lately...

Good spot, MM.

There's nothing wrong with it. It just isn't mainstream.

qouted for the f***ing truth

This is probably true, but the reason why it isn't mainstream is the problem. If it was marketed right, it would be mainstream, Clever advertising can make a game mainstream.

It didn't have the history or standing to build upon that other games have, I think Sony overestimated the effect of Killzone and perhaps should have marketed Killzone 2 as a new IP and build it up from there.

I'm still struggling to believe its selling so poorly in comparison to a lot of very average games, it's been included in some amazing BF bundles, it's dead cheap and it's received rave reviews. It should be selling far better than it is even if it isn't mainstream.

I mean, can it be selling that much worse than Liberation?!

They could realistically do something that would kick start the sales, but it would be a gamble when there's some really big games coming out that they really shouldn't be making the same marketing mistakes with.

Or just ignore that, i'm just a massive Killzone fan.

Uncharted 2 is selling great. And yes, you're right. (most) Playstation games have never been huge sellers.

However, A lot of them do deserve more sales than they get.... including KZ2.

I'm not sure I would use the word deserve. GG has to make it more accesable for bigger audience

You can do that without losing how good the game is

Over the holidays, I noticed that Killzone 2 was selling a consistant 17-20k per week since the slim had released.  I was pretty shocked, because it seemed the game was getting no holiday bump at all.

Only it turned out I was wrong.  The game did receive a bump, as its sales plumetted to 9k a week after the holidays ended.  This week it seems sales will be even lower, looking at our North American figures.

Here you'll find a list of the top 50 selling games published by Sony Computer Entertainment in North America for the week ending January 9th:

http://www.vgchartz.com/aweekly.php?date=40188&console=&maker=Sony+Computer+Entertainment&boxartz=2#

You'll see that Killzone 2 comes in at #26.  It's being outsold by titles like Resistance 1/2 and Socom: Confrontation on ps3, and even old PSP and PS2 titles like Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and God of War II are outpacing it.  It only sold ~100 units more than Killzone: Liberation!

Is this real?  Is this possible?  How is this happening?

It makes no sense to me.

Its not receiving the response we all would expect.  Honestly not alot of people may have heard of game.  After all this time you would think this games price would drop.  I want the game but the price is still up there.  Good games fallen 2 the wayside.

- Still full price
- Not available everywhere (I haven't seen it on shelves for months)

Ah, but thats one of the reasons I think it deserves more sales. The fact that GG took a chance and decided to not go with the twitch gun-play that CoD has made popular needs to be rewarded imo.

If it had came out now it would have been sensational.  Sony has started to advertise alot more.  I see games and hardware alot more.

But doesn't that prove you wrong? How can Uncharted 2 be selling badly when it's selling better than the first, and before bundling, IT wasn't selling badly either?

not really... until now it only proves that it got there faster... the last weeks numbers aren't so bright... i am afraid that only U1 fans are buying U2... hope my opinion change in the near future!
