Forums - Sony Discussion - Do you expect Modnation Racers to do similar numbers to LBP?

Yes, the times have changed since the release of LBP so sales should be good

I don't see what the harm is of believing that Sony can make a better marketing campaign, based off what they learned from LittleBigPlanet.

Okay this is a very crazy prediction, but what the hell. I think it will do similar numbers as mario kart.

I have not, nor do I play to play the game.  I have Mario Kart for for kart racing needs and various games on several systems that allow user generated levels.  User generated levels are ok, but they are still done far better on PC than consoles.

Well, how can you know what's "better" or not?

For user generated content?  It's easy.

Consoles don't really have the control, software or intergration needed to facilitate advanced user generation.

Of course better doesn't always translate into sales... since there is a lot more to quality then literal superiorty.

How much people enjoy games actually has little to do with the actual "programmed" part of the game once you get "good enough" believe it or not.

Change the skins of GOW3 and Dantes Inferno and i bet most people think the game that was Dante's Inferno is better then the game that used to be GOW3.

Not as many as vice versa (likely) but it would still be the case.

It should be interesting how people take the "other things" of the game.  This is why some games like Bayonetta don't sell when people expect them to.

Okay MGS4COD4HALO3, you have now justed us you're on crack. (sips a cup of coffee)

If I'm right then you heard it here first.  LOL

You won't be. You'll be quite a few million off.

It should do more, considering the install base is larger than when LBP released.

I'm personally hoping for 5mil LTD.

I think it will do about the same or more it alrdy charted on the pre order list and still no firm release date.

I'l go 7 million. Seems to be creating lots of buzz.
