Forums - Sony Discussion - Do you expect Modnation Racers to do similar numbers to LBP?

I think better than LBP myself.

the sad thing abt the PS3 is that, the more the hype, the less sales for the game , LBP hype was massive, KZ2 hype was massive but sadly they fell below expectations.
MnR looks fun but let's not hype it so much i expect 1-2 million.

No. The sad thing about the PS3 sales is that, no matter how good the games do, there will always be people who claimed it "didn't meet expectations". I'm sure it happens with other consoles as well, but there's an abundance of this behavior towards just about any PS3 title.

Didn't you hear? MW2 on PS3 is a total failure. MNR has no chance.

i hope more

i think a lot of people who bought lbp will be buying into mnr. they will buy into for the same reasons as lbp- family fun and the ability to play, create and share.

How do you think it will effect sales if mnr was to have a wii accessory like the wii kart wheel to play the game? do you think it will boost sales for the game?

How do you think dlc will affect the game? Imagine Sony started to release dlc in the form of sackboy and sonic skins for the characters.

1 million LTD.

Seriously? Worse than inFAMOUS?

Kart racer with the visuals of a network title and an appeal that's hard to market quickly to the many that only glance at box covers/blurbs, so I'm expecting very modest sales.

Considering the scale of the project, 1 million sales would surely represent profit, so I think Sony would be happy with those sales, too.

But I hope I'm pleasantly surprised!

Or painfully wrong, which I think you will be.

Well actually no, not at all.

"Painfully wrong" implies I'm expecting 1mil and hoping it doesn't do better than that.

"Pleasantly surprised" implies I'm expecting 1mil but hoping for more.

My sentiment is the latter...

It will either sell more or less, but I promise you it will not sell the exact same number!

I predict very similar sales to LBP.

So basically, I expect 5 million.

If Sony bundles a bunch of copies and sells it for around $20 in the UK for months at a time, it may sell like LBP. It doesn't seem anywhere near as good though. Heck, there are free games that offer many of the features with what looks like similar graphics.

I have not, nor do I play to play the game.  I have Mario Kart for for kart racing needs and various games on several systems that allow user generated levels.  User generated levels are ok, but they are still done far better on PC than consoles.
