Its the tv I wanted but the 52"

But had to get an LCD insignia instead due to it being out of stock at the time and I am impatient. But wish I had waited, this tv black and whites suck so much balls.

Around the Network

The G10 is apparently a fantastic model according to the folks at avsforums.

I'd say go for it.

Thanks for the info everyone. From all I've read it seems like a really good TV and I think I will be getting it. However, I might spend $50 more and buy from Newegg vs this smaller company that sells through Amazon.

@Superchunk: Why Plasma over LCD?

Overall better video quality due to much better blacks and faster response times, i.e. no blur. However, you could purchase one of the LED tvs that have the LEDs behind the screen (basically not the super skinny models) which allows them to turn the pixels off resulting in far better blacks similar to plasma, however, these are quite a bit more expensive than their Plasma counter parts with no real advantages.

Yes I realize that you get better blacks and a faster response time but there are also quite a few negatives with Plasma screens.  We have the 52" Panasonic plasma's in one of our rooms at work.  They are on 24x7, after a few months usage there is usually some very obvious burn in on the screens.  Plasma's also draw more electricity and are being phased out of the market.

I'm not much of a fan of LCD technology for large screen TV's either.  So I've been on the fence about this issue for years.  Just wanted to hear your opinion why you would prefer plasma over LCD.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

1. Burn in - If you set the contrast lower for the first month or so that won't ever happen. I'm positive your company didn't do that.

2. Elec usage will still be far less than my current CRT and not a huge difference in reality. A few bucks here or there is not worth worrying about.

3. plasmas lost to LCD due to prices not features. When LCDs came out they were far cheaper for same prices, they became dominant and its only now that plasmas match features to price with LCDs, yet they still have a better picture. This is why I am chooosing plasma over LCD.

Other option I would have chosen was an LED where the LEDs are in back of the screen offering a very similar picture quality to the Plasma due to ability to turn off individual pixels for a better black. The super slim LEDs don't do this and are absolutely no different than regular LCDs, beyond thickness.
