Forums - Gaming Discussion - MW2 vs. MAG really good read

MW2=Meh, bring on mag.

While I'd be renting both anyway, I'm more interested in MAG than I am for Modern Warfare 2. I don't think MAG is as bad as people say (not counting certain issues like bugs and balancing), but I would agree that it's something that has to grow on you after a while and you need spend your first skill points wisely so that you can level up A LOT faster *cough* revive ability nets you 10xp a revive.

Of course, it also helps that things like command structure (Battlefield), respawning in waves (HL2 mod Insurgency, Red Orchestra, and Day of Defeat if I recall), running speeds based on armor/equipment (Counter-Strike), non regenerating health (LOL), large maps (Battlefield), ect are things that I've already experienced in other games and why I'm not ripping the game a new one like some people and preview/reviewers are doing.

If IGN said that there wasn't much fun in MAG, we must have been playing a different MAG then.

MAG seems broken to me, the aiming is just off, the guns feel very underpowered, no one actually tries for the objective and it turns into team deathmatch

people are just close minded. they trick themselves into thinking everything must be either their favorite game or movie. when i play a shooter i dont even think of cod, r2, and kz2, i think of MAG (for example if that's the game i'm playing). i also looked at IGN staff play MAG and they did exactly what people were bashing 'runners and gunners' and kept dying. at this point i dont care for an IGN review of MAG but people who actually know how to play shooters.

i just want the reviews of MAG to be given by people who are going to play it own it's own merits. I'm a lot worried though just by seeing ign's really crappy preview ( ign staff: omg it's not mw2= fail ) and when I hear guys at gametrailers say things like "well MW2 raised the bar sooooo high" it just gets me worried that the only thing people heard was 256, ignored the rest and put that number in mw2 universe, and those people will just be disappointed, and it's so not fair to MAG.

This is my worst complaint with MAG so far. 5 -6 shots on center mass on someone with little to no body armor and they just turn around and "Boom HS"  Ok so im not a Hard Core! FPS'er but WTF over.

you have to place your shots. Also raven weapons are not that powerful, so if that's what your basing it on then just know it was a design choice. as stated in the artiice the game is rock paper scissors to the core

Raven has highly acturate but weak weapons, Valor has the best blanced acturate/damage, and SVER has extremely powerful, but inacturate weapons.

Has somebody got a link for the IGN MAG preview?

MW2 is actually fun, if your playing MAG prepare to die ALOT...

Also the weapons are like freaking BB guns, why the hell is the M4 so weak? Why do they all sound like airsoft guns?
