So what did he mean?

He said that he wants those functions on the next DS and not that the next handheld will have those functions.

Well, if he wants those fun ctions in the next DS, I see no reason why they wouldnt be implemented.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Oh, this is a statement from NoA. That means NCL is keeping them in the dark (as usual).

Reminds of the DSLite. NoE denied it 2 days before it was annouced.

I would attribute it to mistranslation, but what he said actually made sense.

It's just like how they're not saying anything about Mario Galaxy, even though it's supposedly done or mostly done. They just don't want to prematurely take hype away from existing products.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm actually a little relieved.

I thought it very strange for Nintendo to mention an up-coming new handheld system like that. Seemed completely out of stepping with the way they usually operate, and considering the DS is still selling so strongly I thought this sort of news could actually start putting people off.

I mean, of course they're developing a new system, but that doesn't mean you should go talking about it so soon.

yeah, but did anything Iwata said really need to be said? Its kinda obvious that those are the next logical steps for the future hardware.
