360 sales were down about 45% yoy in December and so far in January they are down about 55%.  They had a decent New Year's spike last year (to nearly 20k), whereas this year sales peaked in early December (10k) for the MW2 release and have declined every week since then with New Year's week at 6k.  It's as if the holidays didn't exist this year.

Yeah, the 360 now looks dead in Japan. It's outsold by the PS3 by over 10:1 every week... Those are dreamcast numbers for the 360.

Microsoft should now focus to Europe and make sure the 360 doesn't die there too now that the PS3 is leading in installed base in those territories. If 360 dies in Europe too, it's basically over.

No,its over if it dies in the US,which wont happen before the next generation

@Chris : If you mean 360 can compete with PS3 while only being relevant in the US, then it's clearly wrong. Even with recent numbers, PS3 beats 360 by more than 100k a week in worldwide sales while 360 is still alive in Europe.

If 360 died in Europe, PS3 would sell 300k more consoles a week worldwide according to European sales... In less than 20 weeks PS3 installed base would take the lead worldwide (5 million gap).

i think it is too early, japan number are starting goes to 30K for ps3, and others number differences are starting going lower and lower for ps3, next 2 weeks i think the weekly differnces will be only 50-75K, it is not big deal anyway. But when Natal and Reach and September - Dec , Xbox 360 will have very very large boost.

Let me know when they start losing in the US regularly. Considering most of the successful games on the 360 are US based I don't see the big deal. They still got their deals with Square-Enix and the occasional timed exclusive JRPG, so It's not a big deal if they lose Japan. Europe they still do pretty good in even though Sony is edging them.

I think most people forget the PS3 hasn't seen such a big price cut along with a slim revision, so the pent up demand for a PS3 at a lower price was there. What if the 360 hit $100? Same thing.

By losing regularly I of course mean to the PS3 and PSP. It's obvious It's not going to catch up with the DS and Wii. Those are monsters of their own league.

I think It's already apparent what will save MS this fall: Price cut and Natal. With those two combined I see MS beating the PS3 again atleast for a few months WW.



It's just that simple.

360 aint getting a real price cut, Natal will negate any cut. Its a marketing f up, they will push natal so lowest 360 price will stay the same as now. If they push the lower price they help undermine natal.

Reach wont sale any consoles, so stop bringing it up.

I disagree.. DVD has advantages. For one- game installs are not madatory and load times are lesser than the PS3 on avg. Region locked is stupid. It doesnt do anything for the consumer. As for disk space- barring some RPG's, DVD9 is more than sufficient atm.

 



Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

... mandatory installs is devs choice, not a BR must.

dvd9 is far from sufficiant, its just most devs dont take advantage of it but its a part reason why PS3 exclusives are so superior.

load times, uncharted bud try it.

GoW probbaly wont have any.
