In the videogame industry? The leading consoles have all been Japanese each gen since the early 80s crash (NES, Genesis/SNES, PS1, PS2, Wii)?

Naaaa, they renamed French fries to Freedom fries just out of exquisite kindness, to avoid the association between the French and high sodium and triglycerides.
Oh boy lets hear all the fanboys and nerds explain why, ( thats a good one lol ) Its real simple, no one is doomed or anything dumb like that, Now that 360 and PS3 are the same price, people are smart they see the value in the PS3 and everything you get for the same amount of money, its all value for your dollar. In japan they will buy there own product, they know the quality is much higher, and reliability is better. The 2nd big issue is exclusives, who has the best and which ones appeal to the most. It really is simple, and the choice is becoming more and more seen daily.
Kenoid said: Wow, on the week ending on 2nd of january, the 360 sold like only 7,261 units in Japan. And it didn't perform too well either in others compared to the other consoles. Why do people prefer hardware choices from Nintendo and Sony? Post your comments |
Over 7000 360's sold in Japan is a good week for the 360 actually. Your question is one of why consoles are preferred in this region or that. It appears Microsoft is close to locking down North America, while Europe is now breaking the way of the PS3, with Nintendo on top.
Selling point of 360 is Halo, Gears of War, it is basically shooters. Japanese don't like these kind of games.
In Japan, the 360 never had any ground to lose. It was basically dead on arrival; a few major exclusive releases gave a brief appearance of life, but they couldn't keep that up forever. Microsoft tried their hardest, but there was nothing they could have done to sell the machine to the Japanese.
In Europe, the PS3 had a far more successful launch than the 360. The PlayStation brand is stronger in Europe than anywhere else in the world. The only reason the 360 managed to put up a fight was because Microsoft slashed prices down to the ground. That was really just a stalling tactic, though; cutting prices further won't be enough to turn it around.

And don't forget that cutting prices further could mean to consumers that the piece of hardware is outdated.
This thread would have been quite boring, weren't it for a bloke that ate so many crows that he started sour and flaming anti-Sony threads until he got permabanned. Heaven knows why offended Ballmer Boyz almost never start anti-Nintendo threads...
RACIST ppl is what japanese are, hate any western machine
no idea how to make this properly work
