The tally of Neogaf's 2009 game of the year vote is finally here.  Over a 1000 forumites voted, spreading 10832 votes across 314 games.  Those who voted included regular old gamers like me, well known developers like J Stevenson of Insomniac, Arne of Naughty Dog, and Che of Turn 10, and employees from most major gaming websites on the web, from 1UP to Gamersyde. 

I'm sure Dennis Dyack and David Jaffe would've voted had they been given the chance, but the former was removed from the forums... permanently, and the latter vowed to no longer post (not even once) until his new game was finally revealed.

Couple of surprises for me:

1. Infamous got so high. I guess it has its fans, but still.  0_o
2. Mario & Luigi won best DS game. It had some stiff competition, and I thought either Zelda or Layton would take it.

I was also disappointed Left4Dead 2 got beat by Modern Warfare 2.

Other than that, I find the list quite agreeable. The only things I could see myself changing are moving Demon's Souls up to #1 and switching Left4Dead with Call of Duty.  I'd probably move New Super Mario Bros. up a few spots as well.

there are allot of games that reviewers forgot that they were launched this year and the fans that played the game didnt, so their vote here make this list so different than the BS we see from lots of "gaming sites"

The fitness game game of the year seems a bit forced.

This list was voted on by members themselves.  Each member was allowed 10 points, which they could distribute between any games of their choosing, in increments of 3, 2, or 1.  However, only ONE game could recieve three points per person (ie their game of the year).

For example, my list looked like this:

Demon's Souls - 3

Uncharted 2 - 2
Killzone 2 - 2

New Super Mario Bros. Wii - 1
Left 4 Dead 2 - 1
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks - 1

Total = 10 points

Though now that I've spent more time with New Super Mario Bros., I would've switched it with Killzone 2.
