How would you want it? SOR is THE best beatem up series i have ever played, one of my TOP favorite SEGA franchise's, and in my top 10 most wanted reboots. I love this series and if it wasntbut its not  for the dumbass's at SEGA of America the series could still be breathing to today.. but is not. now i not going into gameplay updates becuase regardless of wat they do SOR will have a modernized updated combat system this is just perspective/genre

SEGA has been doing a good job of keeping there franchises alive and I do belive we will see SOR again someday, but in wat form? ive been think about ways SEGA can bring BOR back which the poll represents.

Sandbox styled - I dont think i have to Xxplain this one something similiar to Yakuza,Shumue, GTA, or Infamous. This one probally makes the best choice it would be easy to include all the SOR stables but one problem.. how would offline coop work? i kno online would work just fine but SOR needs a offline as well and i would be very disappointed if it didnt.

2.5D - 3D models on a 2.5 perpective( think Dragon Ball Wii) This is probally my most favorite choice

Action RPG - I dont mean in the veins of Kingdom Hearts... Something like the X-Men Legends or Marvel Ultimate Alliance series 4player action games with RPG elements.. yuor characters can LV up learn new specials, ext

Classic 2D - basically in the same veins as the original but with some great new, detailed, smopthly animated sprites

I would say 2.5D, but seeing how badly the Turtles in Time remake turned out I'd have to say Classic 2D. Streets of Rage needs to be a beat 'em up first and foremost. If that turns out well, maybe consider spinning it off into another genre.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

I "heart" you!

I kno more ppl know wat SOR is?...

Streets of Rage 2 is my joint 2nd favourite game of ALL TIME only narrowly missing out to the sublime Shenmue.

What upsets me as a 2D side scrolling beat em up fan is that we get avarage games like Turtles in time and Castle Crashers on XBLA, but theres no Sign of a Streets of Rage 4 or Guardian Heroes 2 anywhere.

Castle Crashers has shown that theres still an appetite for classic side scrolling beat em up's.

If a game where all the characters have the same moves set and the enemies are bland (ie Castle Crashers) can do well then imagine a 2D Streets of Rage 4 on XBLA/PSN, Streets of Rage's characters all had a unique moves set.

Picture Streets of Rage 4 in your head with 4 player co-op and the cast was........... Axel, Blaze, Max & Shiva (yes, Shiva see's the errors of his ways and joins the good guys) it would be MINDBLOWING.

Heres Axel vs Shiva from back in the day (the fight and the music are fantastic) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aELhHGUEhz0&feature=related

Oh, i voted for classic 2D and my joint 2nd fave game alongside SOR2 is of course Guardian Heroes (Sega Saturn)

Eh, I wouldn't call it average. It has its flaws, sure, but it really excels in some areas (presentation, music, RPG elements, I dunno). It's actually one of my fav games this gen, possibly my favorite game on the 360.

I'm a huge fan of arcade-style games, so I want the old-school to return. A new Streets of Rage, kept in its 2D glory, would definitely be awesome (and yeah, it'd sell). Not that it'd be an easy game to make, I mean, the older games are great for a slew of reasons that are hard to replicate with an update - in particular the sound, music, art, and controls. Look at the Turtles in Time remake, for example, it's a freggin disaster.

Oh, and nice music pick.

Guys Turtles in Time remake sucked ONLY because they took the old game and gave it a HD shine but updated nothing else making HD look but outdated game

Although i can appreciate some of Castle Crashers music, for me it falls way short of Streets of Rage's music.

Fact of the matter unfortunately is that every character in Castle Crashers has the same moves set (thats poor when compared to all four characters in SOR having unique moves & potentially dozens of characters in Guardian Heroes having unique moves sets) therefore i dont score it highly in the fighting stakes either.

Basically castle crashers feels a bit like both Streets of Rage and Guardian Heroes, but it doesn't beat either in any of the important categories.

I just feel like Castle Crashers got a free pass from the journalists due to it been a NEW 2D side scroller in an age when side scrollers are now few and far between if im been blunt.

2D in HD would be great with an option to have the original soundtrack, a remake of the original soundtrack, and new music that sounded a little like the original sound track. Basically they should just have the original soundtrack.......

*Looks at Golden Axe*

Just leave the franchise alone.
