Forums - General Discussion - Spider-Man 4 is DEAD - Sam Raimi and the cast are OUT! :'(

Wow @ peoples reactions though

did you all forget so easily how legendary spidey 1 & 2 were

I mean they restarted the super hero moview craze

they were amazing movies

I never knew spidey 3 led to such hate

its much to soon for a reboot like it or not (batman had 20 years, the hulk had a reboot quickly & look how that turned out), this is going to FAIL for sony

You do NOT reboot a franchise that has grossed billions because of one so-so movie...especially since that one so-so movie was the highest grosser!!!! I don't know the full story but this is a horrible decision all around.

It will be hilarious to see peple compare it to spidey 1/2/3 when spider man reboot comes round, I guarantee you people will say "BOOOO tobey was far better as spidey" "BOOOOO this reboot sucks"

spidey > batman!

EDIT: oh & I smell something, I think raimi, tobey & sony probably had a HUGE fallout or fight about the script & so on....this reboot nonsense is PR speak to cover it all up

Raimi Walking From Spider-Man 4 is Good...He was showing respect to the Spider-Man Character:

I'll sum it up being it was a lot of reading:

- Spider-man 4 DID feature Peter and Mary Jane with a baby.
- Vulturess was added in the script, at the request of the studio.
- Vulturess was a retooled version of Black Cat.
- Vulture was the editor of the Daily Bugle.
- Script was apparently pure crap.
- Raimi had lost hope in the project and walked.
- The studio also wanted to add a third villain.
- Anne Hathaway was gone from the project late last year (my guess is when Sony turned the Black Cat into the Vulturess).

But is there hope for the reboot?

For the reboot:
- The script is much better than the script for Spider-man 4.
- The script IS complete, and was finished at the same time as SM4, allowing the studio to compare the two.
- The script was commissioned as a contingency plan, should Raimi walk.
- Unfortunately, they describe the script as "more Dark Knight than Spider-man".
- The new film is the first part in a new trilogy.
- The aim of the script is to cut the "fluff" - which they speculate means no humour and a serious tone.

DAMN IT

the last thing we need is clones of that overrated movie THE DARK KNIGHT

Woohoo! This is great news for me! I want Sam Raimi to do whatever he wants, instead of being tied down to a big budget blockbuster franchise. Drag Me to Hell was awesome. I can't wait to see what he does next.

good riddance

Considering that the Spiderman Movies consisted of two mediocre films and one horribly stupid movie, and Drag Me To Hell was one of the best horror films of the last 5 years, I'm glad that Sam Raimi is free of the web slinger.

As for a Reboot. I think it's pretty funny that Hollywood is no longer hiding behind the remake excuse of "we're updating this movie for today's audiences" They're now just being honest and saying "why not, there's money to make!"

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

There's no way Spider-Man is mediocre.

I don't know what kind of problem you guys have but you're all rather disturbed...

Maybe you just like to hate popular stuff?...

It's true. I always wait until I can see how successful a film was before I decide to like or hate it.

That would explain why I don't know any of your favorite movies (except Bon Cop Bad Cop - which was really bad ahah).
