I found it so funny with the marketing of Spider-Man 3, as children went nuts over Spider-Man with black 'pajamas' (my dad coined that in our family when I was younger and watching Power Rangers, saying they were in pajamas). I work at a daycare, so the toddler/pre-K boys were OBSESSED with "Black Spider-Man" (aka Spider-Man under the 'influence' of Venom). They would be running around outside yelling, "YEEAAH! I'm BWACK SPIDA-MAN!!" Then the boys would be arguing with each other and then throwing bark chips at each other (since they couldn't create webs); oh God, so funny.
Then when it was Bicycle Day, all these boys had the stupid 'tricked-out, plastic padded' themed Spider-Man 3 bicycles. Funny thing is that nearly all of the little boys had the same bicycle, so we had them getting in fights on who had the best bike. There were only 2 boys who didn't care about Spider-Man at all, so when it came to sharing their bikes from home, they didn't know which was which so they were arguing and pushing, and the 2 boys who didn't like Spider-Man would switch their bikes with the girls. I showed the boys one day on how 'silly' their own bikes were because I brought mine (I drove my car, so it was hard to cram it in there since I wrecked the van a few weeks earlier that summer) and showed them that having a 'flashy' bicycle like theirs meant nothing when it came to performance, and I tore up dirt faster than them peddling their bikes.
The pre-K boys also brought in their Spider-Man action figures and were arguing about sharing, plus a few of the boys had the same toy, so they didn't know who had whose toy.
Then I told them something that got them really upset... (this was when Sony was still in deep financial trouble as a whole before the reconstruction), "Did you know that the movie company that's making Spider-Man is having a hard time with the next movie? So there may or may not be another movie." (this was before the supposed Spider-Man 4 was mentioned that I said this). The one boy told me, "Oh well, Mr. Adam, I still have my Batman toys."
PS: Wasn't Spider-Man already in 3D (not with glasses, I'm talking about 3 dimensional as in real-time)? So there wouldn't be a need for 3D. And the first Spider-Man was made nearly 10 years ago...so why give it a reboot for? I liked the Spider-Man show (3D cell-shading or whatever, it looked like the comics but more stylized) that was shown on MTV several years ago. Now THAT was awesome.
