Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Could Nintendo have asked Best Buy and Target to stop selling those games?

If Nintendo didn't want these games sold, they simply wouldn't grant the publishers the license to produce them.

^^Uh, this.

You really think developers would stand Nintendo only allowing them to make certain games, when that drove them away before?

Were any of you around during the NES/SNES years?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Not that I'm buying Knight's theory (for that matter, neither is he), but if Nintendo did want to go this route, using proxies would be much more effective in the long run than openly declaring war on shovelware.

Okay, it's just a wild guess. Not even sure if it's true, but if so, that would make sense. Why try to make deals with all the developers when you just need a few retailers to make it hard for third parties to mistreat your system.

If this is true, Nintendo should then work on European retailers.

no more Wii Sports resort at Target and Best Buy confirmed ?

If Nintendo made the deal, their games are excluded. Did you even think about what you wrote?

I think he was playing smart ass.

definitely not a deal that was worked out, but it could be some very shrewd convincing that took place. They both definitely lose shelf space on those games, but it's not like they don't sell. Also, it's strange that 2 retailers would do it, rather than one sole retailer. This makes me think they will both be getting their information on what to stock from a similar source.
