This makes me giggle. only 3.81 million.... honestly can you even count that high?
***EDIT*** this comment was not meant to be mean...
Kzoellner said: Please lock. Not to be mean you are talking about system at a perfect price point. For two they are targeting a market that doesn't care for gaming but will shell out 200-250 for a system plus 30-50 for a game. Sounds like the Ipod. easy to use and unique for its time. also beat everyone else to the punch. cheers |
And yet, with all of this, the Wii is losing marketshare. What can you argue against my exponential loss of marketshare point and all of its infallibleness?

Please provide stats of this? I just want to see the information on what you are looking at.
*** EDIT *** I mean where they are not the leaders in sales still...
First off I want to target this statement by CGI-Quality
"Nintendo lost 0.2% market share in the last three months.
That means in 740 months Nintendo will have 0% marketshare, it's definitely doomed."
I know people have already replied to it but it's mathematically impossible for Nintendo to have 0% market share. Unless you want to tell me that Nintendo has sold 0 Wii's because that is the only to achieve that sort of goal.
Second, yeah Nintendo is losing market share. Where's the news? This was to be expected. It's difficult to sell more and more every month you're numbers are going to drop. Fact is, Wii is still the #1 selling home console in the market selling plenty of units above the HD Twins and as long as it continues to do that, its pretty ignorant to say Wii is doomed I mean Its not like its ever going to be third place, or second place for that matter.
And third, Wii can loose or gain all the market share it wants but it's not going to change the fact that 3rd parties undermine it. If the Wii had 70% market share, the Wii's game library would be in the same situation its in now so in the end who wins? The HD Twins do. They'll almost always win because of image.
You know what? Us Nintendo fans need to defend the Wii from ridiculous statements but we must also realize that we kinda lost the battle for most consistent AAA games.
NINTENDO
nintendo forever . . .

I didn't say they'd lost first place (yet). Let me quote myself from the first post:
According to this thread, the Wii was at 48.9% marketshare! It's now at 48.7%! While you may point out that this is a relatively small change, I'd like to remind you that exponential functions start off increasing slowly before they shoot up. This is clearly the case here, and we'll be seeing larger and larger loss in market share before this year is over.
tarheel91. Understandable, but you are talking about a system that reached out to over 60,000,000 house holds. Verses one that is just now reaching 37,500,000. At some point you have to question as a video game company have they reach every available customer out on the market and off the market for video gaming? Besides you are factoring out whether or not birds who leave the nest will buy the system or not and so on. way toooooo many factors.

in 2007 360 lost tons of marketshare to ps3, then in 2008 the 360 took back some market share, and in 2009 the first half 360 took more market share, then lost tons of market share in the second half. Despite what you have been saying, things can change quickly. Wii was losing market share very slowly at the start of the year, and things have changed, it isn't exponentially increasing, it has decreased or stayed flat. A 0.2% change in marketshare is meaningless, we should be discussing the context for the events that are happening, not talking about a pathetic 0.2% change in marketshare.
