Forums - Sony Discussion - is the YLOD becoming a bigger problem?

I have been noticing ALOT of people getting a YLOD on 20-40-60GB PS3s ever since about a month or so ago..

my PS3 has broken twice, both within a month time (broke again 2 weeks after I got it back or so)

both got repaired for free although I was out of warranty, but thats a pretty rare circumstance.

in my clan there is like a PS3 breaking every 2-3 weeks.. (a clan with about 30 PS3 owners, all VERY active players.

on this site to, I see a 'my PS3 broke, what should I do' thread every week or so..

thoughts?

I think it may be getting out of hand... Still below 360 levels, but still enough for it to be noticeable. My PS3 is on the verge of dying as well.

Its just a result of the PS3 selling more, 1-2% failing is completely normal and 1% of 31million is a lot more than 1% of 20 million.

Was it reported YLOD cases on the slim ps3 models?

im sure thats not the main problem it seems that most people saying they been getting the ylod have had their ps3 for a while now

The PS3 is selling more because of the Slim and the lower price.  The YLOD is occuring on the older unit.
