weird in UK they are not sold out lol

MAYBE SONY can't ship them due to the snow problem?

I#ll be honest now, I think SONY are doing this on purpose

Obviously, they make a loss on the system, too many systems sold means too much of a managable loss.

it can't be hard to make more + holidays are over so demand should be lower

besides leo-j said there are stacks of them in his shop!

You kids make me laugh. Whats plainly obvious is that Sony undershipped.

chill out gramps

It's the ridiculous conspiracy theories. It's not the obvious one that sales exceeded expectations and stock is low in the US but Sony are doing it to save money etc etc. You couldnt make it up.

Or maybe they don't have to undership 120gb models to Europe because of strong euro and pound compared to dollar.

What seems to be happening is Sony were flat out of stock in the US. And are likely shipping over plane loads from China until the big boat arrives. What is quite bizarre is the games media seem to be ignoring this, wouldnt it be normal practice to get comments from Sony?.

i mentioned this earlier in the thread, That explains 1-2 weeks of being out of stock max, not 5.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Toys R Us and NewEgg have them in stock

If Sony is wanting to meet their forcast of 13 million PS3's sold by March 2010, then why would they want to intentionally undership the system? If the system can't meet sales expectations (after the massive resurgence of the PS3) it will make the system look bad and might make it lose the foundation it's built.

Sony isn't intentionally undershipping it. They are trying to get out as many PS3's as possible.

I think by under supplying vendors $ony is hoping:

1.Keeping their product in high demand.

2.Forcing some people to buy the 250gb model which probably bring $ony a few dollars of profit.

3.Forcing online buyers to buy from Sonystyle.com which always has PS3 in stock.
