?  Just what makes the 360 the best console?  This goes out to all the 360 fanboys.  I'm a big Sony fan.  See Sony has so much to offer with it great exclusives and the game quality is spectular.  Then will have free online, blu ray and much more.  With Sony I'm left breathless.  So what makes the 360 better?  I'm definitely considering purchasing one.

  • Best multiplatform games
  • More exclusive DLC
  • Best online service
  • Cross-game chat
  • More comfortable controllers
  • High Definition
  • Easy video streaming/media capabilities
  • Huge install base in the US = likely your friends will have them
  • Standardized achievements for games
  • Bioware games
  • Cheapest console SKU on the market

As an owner of all of the current consoles, I prefer the 360 for the following reasons: -

1. Consistency. A few examples of this: -

Every downloadable game having a demo.
Every game having achievements.
Every game having custom soundtrack support.
Being able to play every game from disc with no install.
Being able to install any disc-based game in its entirety if I choose to.
Invite/join system working the same way in every game and always cross-game.

2. Gaming and communication features (online and offline). A few examples of this: -

Cross-game chat.
Party mode for up to 8 players.
Private voice chat.
Voice messaging.
Rep system that affects matchmaking.
Report idiots direct through the console.
Being able to log in with up to 4 gamertags at once so every player earns achievements etc..
Being able to use more than 1 headset online.

3. Content and game performance. Examples: -

There's lots of good 360 exclusives.
Cross-platform games perform best on the 360 most of the time (SOURCE).
275 XBLA games, all with demos (there's about 120 on PSN here, maybe a third with demos).
1080p streaming videos with 5.1 audio (PSN HD movies only have stereo sound).
Indie Games allows you to build your own games and sell them on Live.
1 Vs. 100.
Game Room offering 1,000 classic titles (launching soon).
If there's an update for a game, it'll always be less than 8 MB and there will only ever be 1 to download at a time, unlike on the PS3 where there will often be more than 1 large patch to download before you can even play a game for the first time.
General reliability of the network and online game performance - MW2 took 7 patches to work right on the PS3. LittleBigPlanet servers were borked for a week after launch. Fat Princess's online play was broken. Battlefield 1943 communication options just don't work on PS3, and several other examples.
No need to sync achievements (trophy syncing on PS3 can be problematic)

4. Pricing and availability of content. Examples: -

Most of the time, Live will get content first.
Content is often cheaper on Live, for example, the WAW map packs and Fallout 3 DLC (£6.80 on Live, £7.99 on PSN).

5. Miscellaneous stuff. Examples: -

You can attach your 360 hard drive to any console and access all of the content on it (while signed into Live).
The 360 dashboard offers more info - you can see what games your friends are playing and exactly what they are doing in that game and this works with all games, plus there are leaderboards built into the dashboard and generally more info to hand.
Avatars aren't just meaningless entities that only exist when you're using 1 application (i.e. HOME) as they're used in games and to represent people on your friends list.
The 360 online community is far more active and you're much more likely to hear people actually talking to each other (or shouting abuse, whatever the case may be, lol).

In terms of actual game related features and online play, the PS3 doesn't do anything better than the 360 IMO apart from offering a handful of titles that support a larger number of players online (MAG, for example). The PS3 has a couple of games that look better than anything on the 360, but that doesn't compensate for all the other stuff. The 360 is also noisier and the accessories can be expensive, but on a PS3, once the hard drive is fitted, that's it - it's not portable like the 360's and if you don't need wireless and so on, the price of entry is cheap.

From a non-gaming perspective, it depends what you consider important: -

PS3 advantages: -

Blu-Ray
Quieter console
Can store media locally on the hard drive or transfer it over from the PC
iPlayer/VidZone support depending on where you live

360 advantages: -

1080p streaming videos with 5.1
Works as an extender for Windows Media Center
Sky TV support depending on where you live
Stream your music as a custom soundtrack with any game you like
No disc required for Netflix streaming, if it's available where you live

So yeah, IMO the 360 is a much better console for gaming, but I'd give the win to the PS3 for media stuff. As I play online a lot, I just couldn't live without some of the features that the 360 has, which is why my PS3 is used only for exclusives.

EDIT - Oh yeah, the 360 will also upscale every single game to 1080p. The PS3 can only upscale a game to 1080p if it has a native resolution that supports it.

Wii is the best console... I mean look at the sales :]

Im not a fanboy. It's about personal opinion.

LOL.

I doubt it'd be too hard to google a "why buy a 360" blog post from some where. If you want enough 360 exclusives where you think it'd be worth a console purchase, just go for it.

PSN: chenguo4
Current playing: No More Heroes

Dude come on be for real.  Sales are deceiving.  They have some, but when it comes to quality look to the current HD consoles.  (360 & PS3)  I can't lie some games are good on my son's Wii.

The ps3 and xbox are basically the same when it comes to game selection.. But you have a minor difference in the first party selection.
I guess you could call me an xbox fanboy (although I just like whatever I like in the moment). I guess I'm extremely fickle

The main diffrence is blue-ray, live fee, and the superiority of live to psn.
5 reason here ya go:

1. Live is awesome when you pay for it.
2. Exclusives. don't listen to the other Sony fanboys, the xbox exclusive line-up is awesome.
3. The controller is currently the best out of all the current gen. ones.
4. It's cheap as hell.
5. Seriously, it's cheap as hell.

I mean, it's cheap as hell and most exclusives are worth owning.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

Depends, if you like playing online and have friends it's a blast. If you don't like online you can always buy an arcade for under 200 but you won't be able to download DLC for games. As for the online, I can it's alot more communicative than PSN. Compared to PSN where maybe 3 out fo 10 guys have a mic most have one and you'll look retarded for not having one. If you want exclusives check out Gears of War, Halo, Crackdown, Fable or even Mass Effect. If you still want to play your PS3 as your main console just buy a cheap arcade for the exclusives.
