I only read the third LotR but damn is it slow. The movies are incredible, at least. |
lol, no, early 40's I think. The reason he writes the way he does because he's a big history person so he gets bogged down in those details. So he makes a really cool convincing world and the story itself is good but it's just the writing that's off.
