i think the character you'll see from the LOTR films will be bilbo, gandalf, elrond and legolas

does anyone know if there is anyone else? also how will they work with the discrepencies like goblins/orcs the intelligence of the wargs and the affect of sunlight on trolls

Only seen the trilogy once and never the extended versions. Gotta see them again some time.

Btw, the Hobbit is a terrible book.

That's because Tolkein is a terrible writer.  Good storyteller, terrible writer.

I am still waiting LoTR Blu-Ray collection (same with Star Wars).... Awesome movies.

Just make to not buy the first Blu-Ray set coming out since they are not the extended editions.  Don't stand for the bullshit they're trying to pull.

I read the first book and part of the second but it was too unbearable to read anymore.

It has to be the slowest thing I've ever read. The first three chapters were just some stupid party. Then two chapters walking. One with some action. Then that Tom guy or whatever. More damn nothing happening. Then the Mines of Moria which was a really good section. But by lord, was the fight scene the worst thing I've ever read in a book. More walking... walking.... stupid House of Rivendell.... walking.... walking....oooh, now we're SAILING..... walking.... Galadriel..... and done.

Honestly, it was terrible. 85% walking, 10% story, 4% bullshit, 1% awesomeness.

By the way, if we want to talk about excellent writing then please check out The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

The only negative to that book is that the other two aren't out yet. This is seriously one of the best recent books I've read in a long time and infinitely better than Tolkien has ever written.

Yeah, I got my inspiration from that.

But there really isn't another way to put it.

The Hobbit is based around Bilbo, Frodo's Uncle. It shows how Gandalf and Bilbo became friends and even Frodos
