Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Natal Runs at 30 Frames Per Second

ofcourse games can run at more fps than natal, but with 30fps processing of motion data there possibly is a noticeable input lag - we'll see about that once it releases

30 samples per second in the input device doesn't correlate to 30 frames per second in games. And that you can record 60 frames per second at vga resolution doesn't mean that you have 60 samples per second. PS3 has to translate from video to inputs.

Why does someone named Solid Snake who only plays games on Playstations and the PC always makes 360 topics that try to be neutral but hint to something else. No, I don't really need an answer to that it was a rhetorical question.

I jst reported news.not my my own comments or anything

Agreed

30fps for NATAL means nothing. The Wii remote does not necessarily run at 60fps - even though the games that use it can. Depends on lots of stuff.

The EYE is a webcam. NATAL is a Depth cam. Depth cams in videogames are unheard of until the natal technology arose. Have you seen any depth cams for video games running faster then 30fps?

Considering that the input latency of most 30fps games is 3 frames+, having to wait on average an extra 60th of a second for the input from the Natal processor is nothing too worrying.
Plus, because of the very nature of a full body input, I very much doubt that amount of extra lag will be noticeable when your body movements and accelerations are much, much longer time-wise.

Basically sounds like a non-issue.

so ifthe hardware can only run at 30 frames per second....(which is what i thought when i read the tittel, there is nothing wrong there)
the surely the games can only run at that or less?

You could make a game at 60 fps that runs with the camera but it would just only update the input from the user every second frame. Might look glitchy but motion blur could help with that.

Check out my game about moles ^

From article @ gamesIndustry.biz, it's already known that system lag for the input is approx. 100ms, and honestly I think for such amazing technology it's quite acceptable

Oh my god! It basically won't be able to do anything it will be so stuttery!
