Forums - Sales Discussion - Analyst - PS3 to see 10% GAIN in 2010, Wii60 to DECLINE! (Wii 20%, 360 5%)

After seeing how well the analysts predicted this gen of consoles, I have a tough time taking anything they say serious.

Everytime i see one of these articles it reminds me of the 2006 gamespot april fools day article.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146958.html

It just shows how litte they know of what will happen in the future.

Can we not turn this thread into every one hates the Wii crap. It's one analyst giving his opinion.

So taking America numbers for 2009

Console Wii PS3 X360
America
10,084,464
4,700,467
5,419,409

The analys sees

Wii at 8,000,000
PS3 at 5,100,000
360 at 4,900,000

In America in 2010 without any price changes and we know that the 360 will have a price change.

Thank you.  So the analys is claiming an azaming year for Wii and good years for PS3 and 360 based off math/numbers/stats but choose to use words with very different means.  Why?  I'm not sure what is wrong with this person but clearly they have massive bias.

Why the hefty Wii decline? Looks like they got some good stuff coming in the pipeline.

360 may have peaked last year, so they might be right on that. But 5% isn't bad.

PS3 is definitely going to finish up YOY.

It's not that unreasonable. The Wii has to decline sometime, and it probably won't have much to do with the software lineup when it does.

I wonder, though, if it might end up following the sales pattern of the DS further down the line - there's always neew people to buy a Wii

it can

but will it 3rd party support like DS did to do that?

Will PS Motion/NATAL turn purchasers away from wii

it depends on that!

I think it's already been shown that most analysts know very little and I'm sure a lot of people taking part in the prediction league on this site could do as good a job, and for free!

Darth lemme ask you

How far do you think Nintendo can push the DS or Wii by themselves?

The Wii is on a roll right now, I don't see it selling less than 2009,
The 360 will get price drop soon and and will sell a little less than 2009, but will end the Year strongly.
The PS3 will have it's strongest year in 2010, by how much, I'll wait and see.

The biggest obstacle in the way of the Wii right now is saturation. On the other hand, it's looking like Wii's software lineup in 2010 will be stronger than it has ever been before. I'm expecting it to stay more or less flat.

The 360 has similar saturation problems in NA, and I'm not sure if the usual pricecut + more software will fight off the decline. Natal might help, but it's a gamble.

The PS3 is still riding high off of the Slim and has that Blu-ray association plus the upcoming release of blockbuster GT5. I do think it can see some gains this year.

Videogame spending took a big hit in '09 thanks to the downturn. Economic indicators are looking more positive now, so all platforms could see a an increase in spending as we climb out of the trough.

Wii -- till 100 Million probably thanks to the vitality sensor & more momentum

DS -- obviously its dominance began with nintendogs, but I still think without its massive 3rd party it wouldn't have gone much beyond say GB (110 million I believe) sales

What do YOU think?
