Halo: Reach Official Launch Date Revealed

Though very little about the game has yet been revealed, anticipation for the forthcoming Halo: Reach couldn’t be any higher. Cited as the next title in the bloodline Halo series – after 2008’s Halo Wars and 2009’s Halo 3: ODST side-tracked into expanding the universe – Halo Reach was met with a great deal of audience appreciation when originally announced at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June 2009.

Details on the game have since been slowly revealed, with a fantastic trailer showcasing the introduction to the Battle of Reach – a sequence of events hinted at in previous games and discussed in the Halo novel series, but never previously Electronic Theatre Imagemade available for players to experience first-hand – and the fact that Halo: Reach will act as a prequel to the events of the original Halo: Combat Evolved is now common knowledge. However, today’s revelation comes in the form of an official release date.

Previously slated for “fall 2010”, it was expected that Halo: Reach would follow-suit with it’s Xbox 360 predecessors, with a release date leaving plenty of room prior to the busy Christmas period. However, just how close the game is set to fall in-line is likely to come as a surprise to many. Halo 3 arrived in Europe on September 26th 2007, while Halo 3: ODST launched on September 22nd 2009, and now, Halo: Reach is set to arrive on September 24th 2010, sources in UK retail and marketing have today revealed. A placeholder box art has also been released (as seen on this very page), but official artwork remains to be forthcoming.
Of course, Halo: Reach will still be subject to an invitational beta phase, to which those who purchased Halo 3: ODST will have received an invite within the package, much like that given away with Crackdown for Halo 3 in 2007. This beta –phase is currently expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2010, prior to this year’s E3 wherein further details on the single-player campaign are expected to be revealed. Of course, Electronic Theatre will keep you updated.

I keep forgetting about the beta, can't wait!

Pretty unorthodox to reveal a complete release date this early.

But it's cool that they are.
