nooo oh god nooooo. The game would be horrible. If u think FFXIII is gettin a bit of a bad rap, a western developed FF would make a few folks commit suicide

I like WRPGs more, but
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.......

Look Westerns suck at delivering the same cinematic "RPG" games as their Japanese counterparts. As Japanese pretty much suck at Roleplaying games. I don't want a WRPG to rippart the few JRPG I like and I don't want a JRPG to ruin something like Mass Effect 3.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Isn't everyone just being a bit too critical, overall western developers has trashed J-developers left and right. If Naughty-Dog took over FF that may be pretty epic.

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

I think as long as they choose a good developer it'll be a good game... regardless of where it's made.

@Kamal

Let's put it simply like this then:

Would you enjoy if suddendly Elder Scrolls or Diablo went into JRPG mode? That's why there are different genres.

Imagine Western Final Fantasy!
- First Person Shooter
- 95% grey and brown

- EVERYONE is on steroids!
- a storyline that is as interesting as a dump
- Over 28,000 irrelevant questions to answer to determine whether you are good or evil (good people use magic arrows, bad people use lightning)
- Magic damage is calculated by dice
- It would be totally uber/Epic/1337/hardcore!!!

lightning torturing some ramdom npc.

horrible characters and city desings.

snow torturing some ramdom npc.

black guy in ff replace it for some gta or mw sterotype.

lightning killing inocent npcs for no good reason

the american empire invading some place(mass effect, halo, etc, etc)

apocaliptic american empire (borderlands, fallout, rage, etc, etc)

fighting giant rats.

ramdom gay sex scene.

ramdom controversial scene( like in mw "yes, we are so mature XD"

Developers can take any approach they want, it isn't only restricted Diablo or Elder Scrolls esque RPG's. There are amazing western developers, with suggestions, care and attention it can be an amazing game. Looks how FF has strayed away from it's original conception.

Final Fantasy was never a series to be stuck into a same JRPG conception, even in the early days, don't forget that FFII was one of the first overall JRPG to actually put up a Job-like system in which you had to train every stat and every weapon in order to evolve.

The main problem between established franchises going beyond the complete borders of what they achieve in past games is the alienation of their entire fan base.
Final Fantasy have always been a series about changes and different approaches to the JRPG genre, but never have they strayed away from it, it's an entire different ball game to go for an entire new genre.

No thanks. I would puke on Final Fantasy even if it was sandbox. The futuristic settings and bright colored style ruins all chances for an atmospheric serious RPG in my opinion.

I vote No.

The last thing we need is more homogenization of video games. As a gamer, I want as many DIFFERENT choices for my games as possible. I love my Wrpgs and my Jrpgs and want them to remain uniquely different.
