Yeah, because I'm open for new experiences coming from my favourite series, I try not to make pre-concieved notions of how I would want a new game to be like, I think that's the most fair approach to take ;)

But also, for fairness sake, Resident Evil 5 did dissapointed me a bit, because it was like a RE4 re-skinned and with arena like fights now, even though I liked the story ;)

Darth is right to some lenght, Mortal Kombat decreased in quality after Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Final Fantasy on the other hand has been one of the best JRPG series overall. You may not like the FF since the SNES days, but that doesn't make it the factual truth :)

HL - HL1/2 > Episode 1
Warcraft - WC3 = WoW; both have its own strengths.
Diablo - Diablo III, where are you?
Lunar - I'll pretend Lunar: Genesis doesn't exist. SSH looks good, but well... its a 3rd remake of TSS already...
Grandia - Well, none came out this gen yet
Total War - Bah, not sure how I would catogorize them. But I guess Rome > Medieval 2 > Shogun. Haven't played Empire enough yet
Kirby - I've only played Nightmare in Dream Land (of both generations) so I guess last? I'm still waiting for Kirby Wii
Tales - Hard one. Abyss > Vesperia > Symphonia 2 > Symphonia. I'll go with last gen since I like Abyss a lot.
Fire Emblem - One of the few that consider Sacred Stones as their favorite Last gen it is

Mario - I haven't really played any from last gen. SMG and NSMBW are both amazing.

Grandia : Not released.So I state my comments for those franchises that have been released.

Metal gear solid : Portable ops great, Mgs 4 not as good as Mgs 2 or Mgs 3.
Devil may cry : Biggest dissapointment ever.
Final Fantasys : Tactics are as good as in Gba.
Megamans : Not nearly as good as in Gba.
Advance wars : Not as good as in Gba.
Castlevanias : Ds versions as good as Gba.
Gta : Yes, Gta 4 sucked so much.
Resident Evil : Yes, RES5 sucked so much.
Red Faction : Guerilla ruined so much.
Mario : Games were better in Gba.
Sonic : This gens Sonic games are biggest jokes ever.
